KLENCK Mainhardt, the location of the church with which this family was associated, was in the sole possession of the lordship of Hohenlohe from 1424. From there it descended to Hohenlohe- Pfedelbach in 1615, and Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Bartenstein in the 1720s.[1] Hankertsmühle was held by another lord. It was purchased in 1371 by the lord of Limpurg,[2] and then descended to Limpurg-Gaildorf in 1441 and to Limpurg-Solms-Assenheim in 1690. The kingdom of Würt- temberg asserted sovereignty over both Mainhardt and Hankertsmühle in 1806.[3] 1. LienhardJ Klenck of Hankertsmühle, parish of Mainhardt, is named as deceased (nachgelaße- ner) in the marriage record of his son Jörg, in 1574. No records of him are known apart from the marriages of his children, among which Jörg’s was the earliest.[4] Whether Lienhard was related to Stephan Klenck, the widower of Hankertsmühle who was married in the nearby parish of Murrhardt, Württemberg, on 12 January 1564, is also unknown.[5] Children of LienhardJ Klenck include: 2. i. Schupp, 1, i). She is believed to be the mother of all of Jörg’s children, whose marriage records identify them as legitimate (sons as ehelich, daughters as eheliche).[20] Either he or his son might have re- married, as a widower of Hankertsmühle, at Mainhardt on 14 December 1619, to Maria (____) Brotbeck, widow of Melchior Brotbeck of Hütten, parish of Mainhardt.[21] Children of JörgI and Margretha (Schupp) Klenck, birth order uncertain, include: i.
