The Great Pumpkin Rides Again! The Great Pumpkin Rally was held on October 24, 1976, and it was a Hare ‘n’ Hounds Rally in which participants were given no instructions but instead looked for route markers. In one instance, one followed lime bag droppings and if a splash! was sighted in the middle of an intersection, one had a choice of continuing straight or turning. Confirmation of being on course was the sighting of another plop! within 0.5 miles of the previous intersection. Cost was $3.50 per car. Prizes included a 26-lb pumpkin, a frozen turkey and a game hen.

On every first Saturday of each month (rain or shine), a glorious gathering of cars puts on an impromptu show dubbed “Cars & Coffee” in Boulder/Lafayette in the parking lot at 95th and Arapahoe. Porsches, Ferraris, Cobras, Bentleys and Lamborghinis have all been known to show up as well as more American Muscle Cars than you can shake a stick(shift) at! It’s a great time, very casual, and lots of fun. The show starts at 8:00 a.m., so grab a cup of java, a bagel, and a camera and come check out the biggest little car show in Colorado!
