The \\PASTELS" ... Number one newcomer to Dumont's "Cav­ alcade of Stars" is Larry Storch, of cours<' . But as viewers have noticed, there are five others. They are: the four -songsters called the "Pastels" and Ronnie Field, a recent addition to the June Taylor Dancers. The Pastels are 27-year-old Jerry Packer, 22-year-old Trudy Marlin, 22-year-old Fran Caroll and 30-year-old Jack Brown. All are married excepting Fran, and Tru· dy, incidentally, is wed to Jerry. As pop music fans will recall, the Pastels was the name of the quartet that used t::> warble with the Stan Kenton outfit. Well, Jerry is one of the original P astels. When the Kenton band broke up several years ago, Jerry thought the name too good to abandon and, after considerable trial and error, got tog,ether the present voice combo. One of 'em, Trudy, he married. "After all, I couldn't take a chance on Trudy's leaving -she sings lead," says Jerry. THE PASTELS • . .
