WASHINGTON (AP)--The Chrysler Corporation may not drown in a sea of red ink afterall. The Senate, early this morning, gave final Congressional approval to a financial life-saving measure. The Senate's vote sends the package on to the president for his sig- nature. Under the, plan, Chrylser would get federal loan guarantees of $1.5 billion. In return, Chrysler workers, both union and non-unionized, would have to make over $587 million in wage concessions. The package came out of a House-Senate conference yesterday. The House gave its o.k. last night.

'_1SGINGTON (AP)--Another House-Senate conference paved the way for agreement on a windfall-profits tax on the oil industry, but full Congressional action will have to wait until the new year. The conferees did establish a framework of over $227 billion, but the particulars still have to be worked out. The compromise represents splitting the difference between the House Vol. 34- No. 234 and Senate versions of the tax.

WASHINGTON (AP)--U.S. officials say the administration is nearing a decision to call for world economic pressure on Iran and government sources said that decision could come today. The officials say consultations are nearing completion on asking the U.N. Security Council to authorize sanctions against Iran. The pressure could run the gamut from a tight trade embargo to a selective boycott. CHRISTMAS GIVING: A RELAVIVELY NEW CUSTOM

The holiday season is with us again, and again we have much to be thank- ful for. There are griveous troubles in parts of the world, and some of them affect us. But our traditional values are secure, our ideals remain constant and our faith is unshaken. Our hope for a peaceful world remains strong. We owe sincere thanks to you men and women of the armed forces and to your civilian support for sustaining our security so that we can freely nurture our hopes.
