9:00 -12:00 Paper Arts: Making Cards and Envelopes with Kathy Mahnerd $40

You will create at least three greeting cards with matching envelopes, each with a different paper art technique, including: rubber stamping, paste embossing, incire paper cutting, iris paper folding, and punch art. Using these techniques and simple materials, the combinations and possibilities of card making are endless. You don’t have to be an expert for these techniques, but your finished cards will make you look like one! Materials: Paper provided by the instructor. 9:00 - 12:00 Fabricated Fables with Renne Emiko Brock-Richmond $40

Learn the artistry and techniques to digitize, edit, and print your images on fabric from a personal computer. Create a unique and completely original fabric using your own photos, drawings, writing, small three- dimensional objects and story-telling skills using a digital camera, scanner, software, and an ink jet printer. With this method, your inspiration will transform special moments and memories into loving keepsakes. Renne will demonstrate how you can develop “Fabricated Fables” on apparel or quilts including the step-by-step instructions for prepping the fabric, basic image enhancement on the computer, printing your design onto the fabric, and finishing techniques. 10:00 -12:00 English Paper Piecing with Jaydee Price $25

Come and learn the art of Paper Piecing, a method of basting fabric over paper shapes, then sewing the pieces together to form a larger shape. This method began to be used in the Victorian Era and is still enjoyed today, as precise hand piecing that fits perfectly! It’s a wonderful Take Along project. Come and play and learn something new! Create beautiful tassels from , rayon, or cotton and embellish them with needle lace, wrappings, and fancy “collars;” use them for curtain tiebacks, basket or tote decorations, scissor identification, or hand them on the Christmas Tree. Personalize your hats, handbags, gift boxes and just about anything else you can imagine with your own bead and button flowers. Did you know that bead and button flowers are becoming the rage for bridal bouquets? Now you can make your own, without the designer high price. No experience necessary. Beads, buttons, wire, and floral stem wrap will be available. You will leave with your own original posy in your own personal colors! Materials: $2

10:00 - 12:00 Square Cedar Basket with Marlien Hennen $25

Learn the basics of plaiting, twining, and making a Tummi-style rim. You will be encouraged to create your own design, incorporating dyed cedar bark, wild cherry bark, white ash, etc. This basked is lined with a removable glass container which allows it to be used in a variety of ways: vase, candle holder, or container for potpourri, sugar packets and more. 10:00 - 12:00 Painting on with Lynn Baritelle $25

Paint a silk handkerchief and learn basic silk paintings techniques: fabric preparation, gutta, design, painting with dyes, use of salt and alcohol to modify the designs, steam setting of dyes and final finishing of the painted materials. Students will be given information on where to obtain supplies, books, and videos. Materials fee: $10 for silk, gutta, and dye; $6 optional for painting frame and brush. Materials: $10/$16

Expand your repertoire by exploring 5-8 different methods to cast on. We will make samples of each technique, and then discuss their characteristics and the best uses for each. Basic knitting skills are needed. Bring a pair of knitting needles in a size you are comfortable working with and some yarn to match. Materials: -0-

10:00 - 12:30 Needle Felted Pony Pull Toy with Ellen Lloyd $30

Create a needle-felted pony which you’ll attach to a pull-toy base (provided). You’ll learn how to needle felt the various body parts of the pony and then learn different ways to attach the parts to create your own little pony. This is a simple project for beginning needle felting, but will give you the skill to do more on your own. Materials: $6

10:00 - 12:30 Ruffled Edge Felt Scarf with Dixie McAndrews $30

Explore the magic of wool fibers by using hand felting techniques to create a fancy ruffled edge wool scarf. No felting experience required. Written instructions and take- home felting tools included. Come ready to roll up your sleeves and get your hands wet. Materials: $10

Have you ever looked at yarn and wondered how it was created and why it looks and feels the way it does? Learn how to make your own unique handspun yarn! Learn the basics of how to go from raw fiber to colorful novelty yarn beginning with a drop spindle. Instructor will provide a beginning drop spindle and fiber. Materials: $5

12:30 - 5:00 Strip Piecing with Pat Oden $50

Strip piecing is an innovative approach to quilt making. It involves sewing strips of fabric together to create new fabric. The resulting fabric is then restructured into a new design. In the workshop you’ll explore cutting the strips free-hand into a variety of widths and using lots of colors and then intuitively create a composition by cutting, positioning, and sewing together new fabrics. No patterns, no rulers, no rules—just freeing fun! Experience: Skilled beginner...know how to use your machine Materials: Participants furnish all your own supplies: sewing machine, extension cord, cutting mat, rotary cutter (extra large size is preferred), sewing notions, an assortment of fabrics in 1/4 -1/2 yard lengths ( to selvage—no fat quarters. 12:30 - 2:00 Sewn Rice Paper Scarf with Barbara Schroeter $20

By combining different and ribbons on rice paper , you can create a one-of-a-kind scarf in an afternoon. We’ll complete the layout of the scarf in class; students will need access to a sewing machine to finish the scarf at home. Bring scissors, 2 ounces of a variety of novelty yarn— lightweight is better than bulky—and at least 4 yards of ribbon. 1:00 - 3:00 a Wool Rug with Ellen Lloyd $25

Participants will make a crocheted rug from the selvages produced in the woolen mills. The rugs will vary in color (according to what is available) and be approximately two feet by three feet --about a two-pound rug. The rug can be either round or oval in shape. Requirements: know how to crochet using the chain stitch and a single crochet stitch. Materials: $5.00 This will be for the wool only. 1:00 - 3:00 Doll Making 101 with Pamela Hastings $25

In this introductory doll making course we will experiment with stick dolls. Both novice and experienced doll makers will learn simple approaches to express complex and powerful ideas. Starting with sticks, we'll wrap, make Model Magic faces, use all forms of fiber for embellishment. Express yourself! No experience necessary. Learn the basics of lashing, , and spoke additions. The student is encouraged to create his/her own design, add cedar bark, dyed cedar, cattails, sea grass, and more. You can fill this wonderful basket with bread, fruits, nuts, potpourri, treats, utensils, dried flowers, or it can be used as a wall hanging. Includes the cedar and natural materials. Tools: Please bring scissors, awl, a small towel. Materials: $10

1:00 - 3:00 Mystery Mini Bag with Sharon Clayton $25

You will create a fun and unique 8” x 4” bag, learning how to assemble the bag with an easy technique for inserting the zipper. All the sewing will be done by hand. 1:00 - 5:00 Magical Beaded Peyote Branch with Kathy Dexter $50

This class will encompass peyote stitch techniques using a variety of glass beads. Using a freeform sculptural technique, each student will develop his or her own voice using color and design they dream up as they go with the careful guidance of the teacher. Some beading skills needed and an understanding of the peyote stitch will be helpful. Materials:-0-(beads available for purchase)

1:00 - 5:00 Beginning Weaving on the Inkle Loom with Susan Kroll $50 Man has always needed to tie, support, bundle, wrap, and hang things. The inkle loom was devised thousands of years ago to weave bands for such purposes. It is of simple construction and few tools, is small enough to be portable and is easy to set up and learn to weave on. You'll make our own small band while you learn basic weaving terms and techniques. No prior weaving experience needed. Instructor will provide looms, shuttles, and yarns for your use during class. 3:00 - 5:00 Paper Dolls with Pamela Hastings $25

Animated messengers of your greetings, Paper Dolls hop, leap, and dance. Fiber arts without sewing. Collage art in human form. Working intuitively with all those gorgeous fibers, papers, rubber stamps, threads, and embellishments you've been collecting we'll play to stretch the boundaries of the old-fashioned image of paper dolls, No experience necessary. Paper dolls may be used as a jumping off point for a fabric design. 2:00 - 5:00 Gourd Bowl with Pine Needle Rim with Gloria Skovronsky $40

Gourds have been used as food utensils, storage containers, masks and musical instruments for centuries. In this hands-on class you will learn how to drill and wrap a hard-shelled Calabash gourd with long California pine needles to create a stunning basket edge. No experience necessary, but we will be working with saws and power drills. Many samples available for you to see! Additional gourds and supplies available for purchase. 2:00 - 4:30 Parfait Dyeing with Sue Nylander $30

Unique designs and unusual effects result from this exciting parfait dyeing process; custom dye clothes or fabric for a special project. Layer fabric or T-shirts, add dye, and remove wonderful one-of-a-kind garments or fabrics. Simple, successful use of liquid fiber-reactive dyes assures bright, permanent colors. Once you start you won’t want to quit. Bring more garments and fabric than you think you’ll use in a day in order not to be disappointed. No prior experience needed. Materials fee: $5 for supplies and dyes. Fabric and T-shirts prepared for dyeing will be available for purchase, or bring your own washed 100% cotton fabric or garments. Bring: 3 pieces of untreated fabric, one yard each, or up to 6 T-shirts and/or other garments. Machine launder and dry all clothing and fabric you bring. Do not use fabric softener. You will also need a pair of rubber gloves. Materials: $10

3:00 - 5:00 Felt-covered Soaps with Ellen Lloyd $25

This class will include instruction on carding wool on an electric tabletop carder and a combination of wet and needle felting to produce unique and functional pieces of art: two felt-covered soap bars with a little design felted into the wool. As you use the bar and the soap gets smaller, so does the felt covering. It retains its shape over the bar as the soap shrinks down. Makes a great gift. Materials: $4
