Endelienta - Governance Endelienta is a partnership between the St Endellion Parochial Church Council, the St Endellion Festivals Trust and the Diocese of Truro. All three partners wish to see the arts & spirituality flourish at St Endellion, and reach out with arts & spirituality activities to the wider region. Endelienta is governed by a board of Trustees representing the three members. Each stakeholder appoints at least one board member and the incumbent Prebend of the Parish of St Endellion has board membership in his/her own right. There is also representation from other co-opted directors. The board meet three times per annum. David Bishop David Bishop first visited Cornwall when he was 2 weeks old and spent some months with his Grandmother and Aunt in Trelights, North Cornwall. He moved back to Cornwall some 30 Years ago, to Trelill and now lives in St Mabyn. David is an accountant and was a management consultant. He is a Fellow of the RSA. He has spent the whole of his career with what is now KPMG and was a partner in London until 1998. He was a member of the Financial Reporting Council from 1993 to 2004, a Council Member of the International Chamber of Commerce, representing KPMG from 1992 until 2011. He was a member of the Gambling Review Board that reported in 2001 and the Accounting for People Task Force reporting in 2002. He was Chairman of the Truro Diocesan Board of Finance; recently retired from the board of the Royal Cornwall Museum and is a Director of Celtic Cross Education and St Mabyn Community Shop Ltd David was nominated to the Board by the Diocese of Truro and has been a director since 2011. The Very Rev’d Roger Bush BA Dean of Truro I was born and brought up in Norfolk (another place of outstanding natural beauty), and have been living in Cornwall for the last sixteen years. I am married to Lois and we have two grown up children, Hannah and Tom. I am currently the Dean of Truro, responsible for Truro Cathedral. I am very interested in history and music - I sing tenor in a couple of choirs - and have a passion for the films of Humphrey Bogart. For me, the Christian faith is a lifelong journey into the mystery of God, and I am very lucky to have a job and to be in a place where that exploration is constantly refreshing and challenging. Roger was nominated to the Board by the Diocese of Truro and has been a director since 2011. Alison Comber Born in London, raised in Southampton and now back in London, Alison has a long-term interest in the visual arts and literacy and previously volunteered as a tutor for the adult literacy programme. With a science degree and an MBA, she has spent her career in the pharmaceutical industry, leading global teams in clinical development, regulatory affairs and managing outsourcing. She has also worked in the city in KPMG Corporate Finance as a Healthcare & Life Sciences specialist working with UK and European Private Equity and M&A teams. Since 2003 Alison has been working independently as a consultant and interim manager for a wide range of companies in various project management and alliance management roles. Alison has strong associations with North Cornwall and has had a holiday home in Port Isaac for over twelve years, she has been volunteering for the North Cornwall Book Festival since its beginning and is now the Treasurer of the book festival. Alison was co-opted to the Board in 2020. Susan Foster I was raised in Sussex and o/en took holidays in North Cornwall where I have rela8ves. Most of my working life was spent in London un8l 1999 when I moved to Trelights. During my 8me in Cornwall I became a regular worshipper at St Endellion. I have recently returned to Sussex to be closer to family especially grandchildren but con8nue to maintain a home locally. My working life began teaching Physics but a/er three years I decided to make a change and took a business qualifica8on obtaining an MSc. I spent the next twenty five years in marke8ng and general management; first for the Consumer’s Associa8on “Which?” and a/erwards as a consultant for various chari8es and non profit organisa8ons. I became ac8vely involved with the “Arts and Spirituality” ini8a8ve at St Endellion in its’ early days and joined the Endelienta Board shortly a/er its’ incep8on. Sue was nominated to the Board by the St Endellion Parochial Church Council and has been a director since 2012. Patrick Gale Patrick Gale was born on the Isle of Wight and raised in Winchester but has spent nearly half his life in Cornwall, a setting he has regularly drawn on for the novels and screenplays by which he has always made his living. His recent title, Take Nothing With You was his third Sunday Times bestseller and Man in an Orange Shirt, the show he wrote for the BBC, won an international Emmy for best miniseries. His work is translated into several languages. An experienced broadcaster on the arts and teacher of creative writing, he’s an honorary fellow of Falmouth University. First involved in the St Endellion cultural scene when he took part in its music festivals at 13, he went on to chair the St Endellion Summer Festival before becoming a founder trustee of Endelienta. He is artistic director of the North Cornwall Book Festival and a patron of the Charles Causley Trust, the Penzance LitFest and Shallal, West Cornwall’s innovative, universal access dance group. He plays the cello and is secretary of the Penzance Orchestral Society. Patrick was nominated to the Board by the St Endellion Festivals Trust and has been a director since 2011. www.galewarning.org. Paul Jackson Paul Jackson qualified in Studio Ceramics in 1977 at Harrow School of Art. Following a short period teaching in London, he relocated to Cornwall, where he established his pottery in 1979. He moved to his present home at Helland Bridge, where he works in a studio converted from an old chapel, in 1989. He has exhibited regularly and widely in both the UK and the US, and his work can be found in many major galleries. He is the Chairman of Cornwall Crafts Association. Paul was co-opted to the Board in 2020. Michael Maberly I spent most of my life working in the Financial Services industry mainly in related banking activities such as commercial finance, leasing, and other asset finance areas. I was in general management and ran various companies of various sizes up to a few thousand employees. Some of these had international activities. I have been involved in charitable work for over thirty years. I served as a governor of secondary schools in both the private and maintained sectors. I was chair of the governing body of my old school, an independent school of seven hundred boys and girls, for three years. For twenty years I was a trustee/director of the largest charity in the UK specialising in providing services for dyslexic children and adults, which was called Dyslexia Action. This is a national organisation employing some three hundred people. My last six years were spent as the chairman. Finally I have lived in the locality of St Endellion for many years and it is the church where my wife and I worship. I am therefore familiar with the local community. Michael was nominated to the Board by the St Endellion Parochial Church Council and has been a director since 2011. Alison Moore-Gwyn, secretary Alison has been involved in music-making from an early age and this led her to the St Endellion Music Festivals in 1986. A solicitor by training she has been involved in the management of various charities, both as a Trustee, and in an executive role at Fields in Trust, for many years. Apart from music and the arts her interest and expertise have been in access to outdoor recreation for sport and play, education and care for the elderly. She is married to David, who worked as an expert in British Pictures at Sothebys, and has three children who have all participated in the St Endellion Music Festivals and 6 grandchildren. Alison was nominated to the Board by the St Endellion Festivals Trust and has been a director since 2017. Ian Sandbrook (Chairman) Previously a primary teacher, headteacher and schools inspector, Ian was Director of Education and Leisure in Southampton from 2001 to 2005. Between 2005 and 2010 he worked freelance as a consultant and interim manager, mostly in local government, during which time he was interim Director of Children’s Services in 4 different local authorities for periods ranging from 6-10 months. Ian first played bassoon at St Endellion in the Summer Festival in 1973. He played in the first ever Easter Festival in 1974 and subsequently played in the orchestra for all except one of the Easter Festivals until 2015. He was treasurer of the Easter Festival for 6 years and chairman for 3 years. He has been chairman of the Endelienta Board since the charity was established in 2011. Rev Elizabeth Wild Prebend of St Endellion and Priest in Charge As Rector, Elizabeth is an ex-officio member of the Board; she has been a director since 2015..
