It is this indefinable nature that makes a Premium Whiskey far more than the sum of its parts.” The Jameson Masters Midleton distillery and irish Whiskey Midleton Distillery, located in County Cork, is the largest distillery in Ireland. • It is a diverse distillery in that it can produce a wide variety of whiskey types including Single Pot Still and Grain Irish Whiskey. • The location of Midleton Distillery is perfect, with the abundance of quality barley grown locally in the rich soils of east Cork and the plentiful supply of fresh water from the Dungourney river running through the distillery. • The term ‘Single Distillery’ refers to the practice of conducting the entire whiskey production process within the confines of one distillery. • Midleton Distillery is also unique as the location where the craft of traditional Irish ‘Single Pot Still’ Whiskey distillation has been protected, nurtured and perfected for almost 200 years. • Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is triple distilled from a mash of malted and unmalted barley in large copper pot stills. • The Midleton distillers also produce grain whiskey which is triple distilled from a mash of maize and malt in column stills. • Grain whiskey is blended with pot still whiskey to produce some of the distillery’s most famous brands including Jameson and the Jameson Reserves. -

Midnight Moonshine Rendezvous by Dr. Stony Merriman Story by Luke Alexander Denny Chapter 1 Personal History Luke Alexander Denny, the legendary Middles Tennessee moonshine runner opened his life by saying, “I was born near Buffalo Valley in Putnam County, Tennessee, November 20 or 21,1917. I have always considered November 21 as my birthday. In fact, that date is on my discharge certificate from the U.S. Army. My birth certificate, however, states I arrived at 5 p.m., on the 20th which was on a cold Tuesday. The temperature was around 10 degrees below zero, according to my Uncle Floyd Huddleston, who I’m told had a photographic memory,” Denny explained. “My Great Uncle Jessie Huddleston told me many times it was the coldest winter he had ever experienced. According to my father Hugh Toi Denny, the weather turned cold around November 3. It started snowing , but the temperature was so low there wasn’t much accumulation. All that fell remained on the ground. It snowed off and on all of November, and up through December. Several of the old timers from Rock Spring (the community where I was born) said the snow didn’t melt until sometime in early spring. In the far reaches on North Hill some snow could be seen as late as April 10. Mr. Earl McCallum, also told me the Tennessee River froze over throughout southern Tennessee and northern Alabama. Earl lived in Savannah, Tennessee, at the time. “As I said, my dad was Hugh Toi Denny. Dad was born in 1882. He was a 35- year-old farmer when I was born. -

The Kilkenny Whiskey Guild The first written account of distillation in Ireland comes from Kilkenny in the 14th Century with the Red Book of Ossory and the Kilkenny Whiskey Guild will celebrate and highlight this history. The Kilkenny Whiskey Guild is a collection of 10 establishments throughout Ireland’s Medieval capital. Each premises will stock a minimum of 60 Irish Whiskeys and will assist in the customers experience through knowledgeable staff, tasting flights, food pairings and mixology. Here you will find a complete and detailed list of all our Malt Whisky, including the region they are from and condensed tasting notes. We hope you will find a Malt Whisky that suits both your taste and your pocket and if you require any further help in your selection please do not hesitate to ask one of our bar staff for guidance. We endeavour to have all the Malts listed in stock, but there will be occasions when some are unavailable. We hope this will not detract from your enjoyment and that you will be able to find a different Malt Whisky that is to your liking. !1 Our Local Distilleries Historically the North West of Scotland was poorly populated, and even those people were pushed off their land during the Highland Clearances, so there were never any distilleries in the region (well, not legal ones anyway!!). Most of the distilleries are located in the more populated and arable East Coast of Scotland. We do have some distilleries not too far away from Kinlochewe and they all have visitor centres and conduct tours of the distillery and are well worth a visit. Glen Ord Distillery: Is the closest to us and the one we consider as our local distillery. It is located on the Black Isle, to the west of Inverness, 38 miles from the Hotel. It was founded in 1838 and is unusual in that it has its own maltings on site, which supply it and other distilleries with malted barley. -
