A painted canvas backdrop is creating the impression of the scene being set in a palace. Comment: Stefan Nemanja (~ 1113–1199) was the (Veliki Župan) of the Grand Principality of (Rascia) from 1166 until 1196 and heir to the Vukanović that marked the beginning of a greater Serbian realm (he is the founding father of the Nemanjić dynasty).
