Kentler, insanların eğilimleri ve ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda sürekli iletişim halinde olmuşlardır. Bu çalışmada Pisidia Bölgesi’nde sikke buluntuları yayımlanan kentlerin Roma İmparatorluk Dönemi eyalet sikkelerinin dolaşımı ve dolaşıma etki eden unsurları ele alınmıştır. Çalışmanın kapsamını, Pisidia Bölgesi’nde sikke buluntuları yayımlanan Antiokheia, Klaudia Seleukeia (Sidera), Sagalassos, Karain-Suluin Mağaraları ve Arpalık Tepe Kutsal alanı oluşturmaktadır. Antiokheia ve Karain-Suluin Mağaraları’nda şimdiye kadar yapılan kazılarda farklı kentlere ait sikkeler ele geçmemesi nedeniyle konu kapsamında değerlendirilmemiştir2. Bu merkezlere ek olarak sikke dolaşımına kanıt oluşturabilecek define bulguları ve müze koleksiyonları da çalışma kapsamına alınmıştır. The cities were constantly in communication with each other in order to meet the tendencies and requirements of people. In this study, the coins found in Pisidia Region and which ancient cities they belonged to; the circulation of the state coins of The Roman Empire as well as the factors impacting the circulation were explored.

    Pisidia Bölgesi’nde Yunan ve Roma Dönemlerine Ait Kültür Varlıkları Senem Özden Giriş Protogeometrik Dönem’den itibaren, Roma İmparatorluğu’nun ikiye ayrıldığı MS 395 yılına kadar geçen zaman diliminde Anadolu’nun diğer bölgeleri gibi Pisidia Bölgesi de Yunan ve Roma yerleşmelerini içinde barındırmıştır. Bölgedeki kentlerin yanı sıra küçük yerleşmeleri, ve tekil buluntu yerlerini envanterleme çalışmasında söz konusu bölgenin sınırlarını belirlemek bir zorunluluk olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır1. Yönetsel bölge sınırlarına göre yapılan bu araştırma Pisidia Bölgesi’nin Roma Dönemi boyunca farklı eyaletlere ve böylece farklı coğrafi bölgelere eklendiğini ortaya koymaktadır. “Pisidia” adı, ancak Diocletianus döneminde başlı başına bir eyalet ile ilişkili olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır2. Bu şekilde tarihte ilk kez eyalet kimliğini alan Pisidia, kuruluş aşamasında Galatia Eyaleti’nin güneyini, Lykia- Pamphylia Eyaleti’nin kuzey kesimlerini, Asia Eyaleti’ne bağlı Apameia Kibotos’u ve doğuda Isauria’ya kadar uzanan geniş bir alanı kapsamıştır3. Böylece Pisidia, kuzeyde Sultan Dağları, Akşehir Gölü ve Gölcük Dağları; kuzeydoğuda Afyonkarahisar’a bağlı Dinar düzlüğü ile Söğüt Dağları; doğuda Konya Ovası üzerinden Karadağ etekleri; güneyde Toros Dağları’nın kuzey yamaçları ve batıda Burdur Gölü (Askania Lacus) çanağının doğu kesimi ile sınırlanmıştır. 1 Strabon’un Coğrafya adlı eserinde söz ettiği etnik ve linguistik dağılıma göre Pisidia Bölgesi kuzey ve kuzeybatıda Phrygia, doğuda Lykaonia; batıda Milyas ve Kabalis; güneyde Pamphylia, güneydoğuda Isauria ve Kilikia Bölgeleri ile sınırlanmaktaydı (Strabon 12, 7, 1-2). Ancak Diocletianus döneminde kurulan Pisidia Eyaleti, Lykaonia Bölgesi’ni de kapsadığı için, bu çalışmada, Pisidia sınırları içerisinde ele alınmıştır. 2 Diocletianus döneminde (MS 284-305) eyaletlerde yeni düzenlemelere gidilmiş ve imparator kontrolü arttırılarak vergiler daha merkezi bir sistemde toplanmaya başlamıştır (MS 295-297).

Mezarların işaretlenmesi için mezar stelinin kullanımı en yaygın olarak görülen yöntemdir. Bu çalışmada Kuzeybatı Pisidia Bölgesi’nde yer alan Roma İmparatorluk Dönemi’ne ait alınlıklı mezar stellerinin detaylı bir şekilde araştırılması ve incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. “Alınlıklı Mezar Stelleri”, genel hatlarıyla dikdörtgen bir formda olan yerel taş ya da mermerin tepe noktasında üçgen bir alınlığın betimlendiği stellerdir. Bu haliyle mimari bir yapının ön cephesini andırırlar. Kuzeybatı Pisidia Bölgesi’nde kullanılan stellerin, benzerlik ve farkları irdelenerek ayırt edici özellikleri tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Şematik (alınlık, akroter, plaster ve rozet kullanımı açısından) olarak benzer özellikler sergileyen Kuzeybatı Pisidia dışındaki bölgelerde de bulunan bu steller, tercih edilen süsleme unsurları ışığında, tipolojik bir çalışma yapılarak irdelenmiştir. Kuzeybatı Pisidia Bölgesi’nde yer alan Konana, Apollonia, Tymandos ve Seleukeia Antik Kentleri’ne ait olduğu bilinen steller incelenerek, bölge içerisinde yer alan, birbirinden farkı yerleşimler içerisindeki geleneksel yapı ve farklılıklar da tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bilimsel çalışmalarla yeni yeni gün yüzüne çıkan Pisidia Bölgesi araştırılması gereken çok fazla sorulara sahiptir. Bu sorulardan biri bölge genelinde yol sisteminin gelişimi ve bu sistemin uygarlıklar tarafından ne amaçlarla kullanıldığı olmuştur. Tezin ortaya çıkmasında etkin olan bu soru çok geniş bir dönemi kapsayacağından, bölgede planlı yol sistemi olarak inşa edilmiş olan Roma İmparatorluk Dönemi yol ağları incelenmiştir. Askeri amaç güden bu yolların aynı zamanda ticari olarak da önemli oldukları ve bölge ekonomisinde üstlendiği kritik rolün ve kültürel anlamda bölgeye kattıklarının ele alınması amaçlanmıştır. “Pisidia Bölgesi Roma İmparatorluk Dönemi Yolları” bölgenin yol sistemlerini kara yollarının açıklanmasına yönelik yapılmış bir çalışmadır. Daha önce bölgede yapılan yol araştırmaları Pisidia bölgesinin genelini bir bütün halinde ele almamış, sadece bölgesel araştırmalar sürdürülmüştür. Tez çalışması sırasında 19. yüzyılın başından başlayarak söz konusu bölgede yapılan, özellikle Roma İmparatorluk Dönemi Yolları ile ilgili çalışmalar güncel literatür de takip edilerek bir araya getirilmiştir.
