Global Forum for Food and Agriculture Berlin 2016

With its longstanding commitment to the GFFA, the German agricultural and food industry emphasizes its responsibility and willingness to take on challenges of food security in a joint effort with politics, science and civil society. On the eve of the Berlin Agriculture Ministers‘ Summit and under the theme: “The Future of Food and Farming: Challenges and Opportunities” we welcome the opportunity to discuss current and future-oriented issues of food security.

By 2050, 2 billion people will need to be supplied with more food, according to current estimates. For this, the agricultural production has to be increased by around 70% according to the FAO. Based on general assessment, this goal can be achieved if the necessary investments are being made in increasing productivity in food production worldwide.
