Uusia1 Lainaetymologioita Viron Koillisrannikon Rantamurteen Länsiryhmässä
SOFIA BJÖRKLÖF Helsingin yliopisto Uusia1 lainaetymologioita viron koillisrannikon rantamurteen länsiryhmässä Abstrakti Viron koillisrannikkomurteiden sanasto heijastaa virolaisten ja suomalaisten välisiä historiallisia kontakteja yli Suomenlahden. Tämän artikkelin keskiössä ovat viron koillis- rannikkomurteiden rantamurteen länsiryhmän uudet lainaetymo- logiat. Artikkeli pohjautuu viron murresanakirjaa varten koottuun materiaaliin. Tutkittu sana-aineisto koostuu 225 sanasta, jotka esiintyvät rantamurteen länsiryhmän kaikissa kolmessa pitäjän- murteessa tai niistä kahdessa (Jõelähtme, Kuusalu, Haljala). Puolet sanoista on Suomenlahden ympäristön naapurikielistä uudella ajalla aina 1900-luvun alkuvuosikymmeniin asti saatuja lainasanoja. Huomattava määrä, noin 38 % tutkituista sanoista, on suomalaista alkuperää.

We boast 76,000 islands that cover over half a hectare in area, 56,000 lakes over one hectare, 647 rivers and 314,000 km of coastline. Every Finnish municipality has waters, almost all of them have islands. Every island, lake and river has a special place in the hearts of Finnish people. This brochure has been created to illustrate these unique riches of ours. ■ The multitude of islands and waters makes the Finnish land- scape fragmented, creating extra costs for the economy as well as the State and municipalities, but it is also a unique strength for us. Our islands, sea areas, lakes, rivers and coastline are positive regional development factors in a world where living is increasingly made by producing experiences and adventures. JOUNI KLINGA ■ Recreational residences (1.9 million people staying at recreation- al homes), boating (700,000 boats), recreational fi shing (1.2 million fi shermen and women), nature enthusiasts and tourists ensure that our islands and waters and their development are issues that touch the entire nation. -
Hedonic Housing Price Formation in Helsinki and Espoo
1 Petri Minkkinen Hedonic housing price formation in Helsinki and Espoo School of Technology and Innovation Master’s thesis in Industrial Management Science of Economic and Business Administration Vaasa 2019 2 UNIVERSITY OF VAASA School of Technology and Innovation Author: Petri Minkkinen Title: Hedonic housing price formation in Helsinki and Espoo Degree: Master of Science in Economics and Business Subject: Industrial Management Supervisor: Ville Tuomi Year of graduation: 2019 Number of pages: 65 ABSTRACT: Though influence of the housing market for the economic is significant, academic research about housing price formation, especially in Finland, has been severely lacking. The reason might be partly due to challenges put forward by the research framework, limited research methods and the complexity of the housing price formation. This study assesses the hedonic housing price formation in Helsinki and Espoo, particularly focusing on dwelling’s physical features and the distance to the center of Helsinki. The data has been gathered from Hintaseurantapalvelu through a cooperation agreement and it contains apartments’ realized debt-free prices and the information from dwelling’s individual attributes. Moreover, the study utilizes a location variable which measures the distance to the center of Helsinki. In total, the material covered includes 5495 observations from the time period of 1.1.2018 – 31.06.2018. I conduct the research with linear regression model and estimate the result based on the least squares method. As a result, the most significant connection for the debt-free price is own plot that equals price of 57 383,06 euros when other relevant factors are considered. Additionally, the research concludes that the second greatest connection for the debt-free price is apartment’s distance to the centrum: one-kilometer increase in the distance to the center decreases the debt-free price by 19 043,09 euros. -

NEW-BUILD GENTRIFICATION in HELSINKI Anna Kajosaari
Master's Thesis Regional Studies Urban Geography NEW-BUILD GENTRIFICATION IN HELSINKI Anna Kajosaari 2015 Supervisor: Michael Gentile UNIVERSITY OF HELSINKI FACULTY OF SCIENCE DEPARTMENT OF GEOSCIENCES AND GEOGRAPHY GEOGRAPHY PL 64 (Gustaf Hällströmin katu 2) 00014 Helsingin yliopisto Faculty Department Faculty of Science Department of Geosciences and Geography Author Anna Kajosaari Title New-build gentrification in Helsinki Subject Regional Studies Level Month and year Number of pages (including appendices) Master's thesis December 2015 126 pages Abstract This master's thesis discusses the applicability of the concept of new-build gentrification in the context of Helsinki. The aim is to offer new ways to structure the framework of socio-economic change in Helsinki through this theoretical perspective and to explore the suitability of the concept of new-build gentrification in a context where the construction of new housing is under strict municipal regulations. The conceptual understanding of gentrification has expanded since the term's coinage, and has been enlarged to encompass a variety of new actors, causalities and both physical and social outcomes. New-build gentrification on its behalf is one of the manifestations of the current, third-wave gentrification. Over the upcoming years Helsinki is expected to face growth varying from moderate to rapid increase of the population. The last decade has been characterized by the planning of extensive residential areas in the immediate vicinity of the Helsinki CBD and the seaside due to the relocation of inner city cargo shipping. Accompanied with characteristics of local housing policy and existing housing stock, these developments form the framework where the prerequisites for the existence of new-build gentrification are discussed. -
