NOTICE OF RACE

Organised and conducted by The 12ft Skiff Association of Queensland

In association with The Brisbane 18 Footers’ Club Inc.

Supported by: 1 Rules 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020 1.2 The Prescriptions and Special Regulations of Australian Sailing (AS) 1.3 The 12ft skiff rules as defined in the Interdominion 12ft Sailing Championship Rules, as accepted on 07/01/2012 1.4 Any changes to the Racing Rules will be outlined in the Regatta Sailing Instructions

2 Advertising The Organising Authority will require all participating boats to display the event sponsor’s advertising.

3 Eligibility and Entry 3.1 The Regatta is open to all boats of the 12 foot skiff class(es) 3.2 To be eligible to compete in these Championships each competitor shall be a financial member of either: Queensland 12ft Skiff Association / NSW 12ft Skiff Association. 3.3 Eligible boats may enter by completing the official Entry Form that shall be lodged with the Qld Association Regatta Race Secretary no later than 23rd March 2018, accompanied by the required fee. (Refer Entry Fee). 3.4 Electronic entry payment may be made via direct debit to: The Queensland 12ft Skiff Association Account: 829 340 314 BSB: 084-283 3.5 An online entry form will be available at www.brisbane18footers.com

4 Entry Fee 4.1 Entries prior to 23rd March 2018 $ 200.00 4.2 Entries after 23rd March 2018 $ 240.00 4.3 Entries cancelled in the week preceding the event will not be refunded. If cancellation occurs prior to this date, 75% of the fee will be refunded upon receipt of a written request.

5 Race Schedule DATE EVENT TIME / WARNING SIGNAL Friday 30th March Registration 0900 - 1100 Invitation Race (sprint) 1355 Race 1 ASAP after Invitation race Saturday 31st Race 2 1355 March Race 3 ASAP after Race 2 Sunday 1st April Race 4 1355 Race 5 ASAP after Race 4 Monday 2nd April Race 6 1255 (no race shall start after 1500 on the last day) 6 Measurement All boats shall comply with the 12ft Skiff Class Rules as agreed in Addendum A of the Interdominion 12ft Sailing Championship Rules. Random measurement check and inspections may be carried out at any time for compliance to measurement rules. A boat notified of inspection shall follow the instructions of the Race Committee.

7 Sailing Instructions Sailing instructions will be available from Friday 30th March, 2018 from the organising body.

8 Venue Attachment A shows the approximate area where courses will be set, together with the relative location of the clubhouse and the Manly boat harbour.

10 Courses The Courses to be sailed will be outlined in the Sailing Instructions.

11 Penalty System RRS 44.1 is amended so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe is required.

12 Scoring The Courses to be sailed will be outlined in the Sailing Instructions. 12.1 There will be a maximum of six (6) races held, not including the invitation race. Three (3) races will constitute a series. 12.2 When three (3) to five (5) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. 12.3 When six (6) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst race.

13 Safety All competitors shall wear personal floating devices while on the water, which are in good condition and are in accordance with the specification issues or approved by a national authority of standard organisation. ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO RRS 1.2

14 Radio Communications Except in an emergency a boat shall neither make radio transmissions whilst racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. Restrictions also apply to mobile telephones.

15 Prizes Prizes to be awarded are as follows: 15.1 The Norman Booth Trophy for Overall Winner. Plus 2nd and 3rd Overall 15.2 The Colin Clark Memorial Trophy for Overall Handicap Winner. Plus 2nd and 3rd Overall Handicap 15.3 1st Veteran (Over 45 as at 30th March 2018) 15.4 1st Junior (Under 25 as at 30th March 2018)

16 Insurance All boats shall have current Third Party Insurance with a racing cover considered by the insurer as adequate for the risks involved. Minimum $5million (recommended $10million) or equivalent thereof for any incident.
