Notice of Race 2019 12ft Skiff Australian Championship 19th – 22nd April 2019 NOTICE OF RACE Organised and conducted by The Brisbane 18 Footers’ Sailing Club Inc. & Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron In association with The 12ft Skiff Association of Queensland Supported by: 1 Rules 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020 1.2 The Prescriptions and Special Regulations of Australian Sailing (AS) 1.3 The 12ft skiff rules as defined in the Interdominion 12ft Sailing Championship Rules, as accepted on 07/01/2012 and amended 12/01/2019. 1.4 Any changes to the Racing Rules will be outlined in the Regatta Sailing Instructions 2 Advertising The Organising Authority will require all participating boats to display the event sponsor’s advertising. 3 Eligibility and Entry 3.1 The Regatta is open to all boats of the 12 foot skiff class(es) 3.2 To be eligible to compete in these Championships each competitor shall be a financial member of either: Queensland 12ft Skiff Association or NSW 12ft Skiff Association. 3.3 Eligible boats may enter by completing the official Entry Form that shall be lodged with the Qld Association Regatta Race Secretary no later than 12th April 2019, accompanied by the required fee. (Refer Entry Fee). 3.4 Electronic entry payment may be made via direct debit to: The Queensland 12ft Skiff Association Account: 829 340 314 BSB: 084-283 3.5 An online entry form will be available at www.brisbane18footers.com 4 Entry Fee 4.1 Entries prior to 12th April 2019 $ 200.00 4.2 Entries after 12th April 2019 $ 240.00 4.3 Entries cancelled in the week preceding the event will not be refunded. If cancellation occurs prior to this date, 75% of the fee will be refunded upon receipt of a written request. 5 Race Schedule DATE EVENT TIME / WARNING SIGNAL Friday 19th April Registration 0900 - 1100 Invitation Race (sprint) 1355 Race 1 ASAP after Invitation race Saturday 20th Race 2 1355 Race 3 ASAP after Race 2 Sunday 21st Race 4 1355 Race 5 ASAP after Race 4 Monday 22nd Race 6 1255 (no race shall start after 1500 on the last day) 6 Measurement All boats shall comply with the 12ft Skiff Class Rules as agreed in Addendum A of the Interdominion 12ft Sailing Championship Rules. Random measurement check and inspections may be carried out at any time for compliance to measurement rules. A boat notified of inspection shall follow the instructions of the Race Committee. 7 Sailing Instructions Sailing instructions will be available from Friday 19th April, 2019 from the organising body. 8 Venue Attachment A shows the approximate area where courses will be set, together with the relative location of the clubhouse and the Manly boat harbour. Club address: 578 Royal Esplanade Manly, QLD, 4179 9 Accommodation 9.1 Billeting is available, please contact Richard on 0433 262 245 or [email protected] 10 Courses The Courses to be sailed will be outlined in the Sailing Instructions. 11 Penalty System RRS 44.1 is amended so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe is required. 12 Scoring The Courses to be sailed will be outlined in the Sailing Instructions. 12.1 There will be a maximum of six (6) races held, not including the invitation race. Three (3) races will constitute a series. 12.2 When three (3) to five (5) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. 12.3 When six (6) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst race. 13 Safety All competitors shall wear personal floating devices while on the water, which are in good condition and are in accordance with the specification issues or approved by a national authority of standard organisation. ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO RRS 1.2 14 Radio Communications Except in an emergency a boat shall neither make radio transmissions whilst racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. Restrictions also apply to mobile telephones. 15 Prizes Prizes to be awarded are as follows: 15.1 The Norman Booth Trophy for Overall Winner. Plus 2nd and 3rd Overall 15.2 The Colin Clark Memorial Trophy for Overall Handicap Winner. Plus 2nd and 3rd Overall Handicap 15.3 1st Veteran (Over 45 as at 19th April 2019) 15.4 1st Junior (Under 25 as at 19th April 2019) 16 Insurance All boats shall have current Third Party Insurance with a racing cover considered by the insurer as adequate for the risks involved.     Abbotsford Sailing Club News 07/04/2021 Wrap-up of the 85th 12Ft skiff Australian Championships It was an extremely lively Easter weekend at the club with all the 12ft skiff crews visiting, the racing and the dinners and socialising after the racing. The whole event was a great success, we had enough breeze to complete all the races, and the last day even offered a bit more spectacle, after some lighter days earlier in the weekend. All results, photos and videos are on our regatta page. A thank you to all the crews who participated and the 1 2ft skiff association for choosing Abbotsford for this regatta. As the president of the club, I really would like to thank all the members, friends, family and past members who helped out at the club, including the bar and canteen and the support on the water. A special thank you to Robyn and Barrie who, together with Judy, ran all the starts and finishes from Scout. A major effort and much appreciated! We will have those snacks and drinks ready for next time you are able to officiate! Also a big thank you to Tom Biskupic for being the on-shore race manager and race recorder, and keeping the race results up to date on the website. Other options include: Yachting Queensland has dorm style accommodation at the opposite end of the marina (price approximately $25 a night) The Manly Hotel offers suites in Manly Village and apartments at the opposite end of the marina. A discount regatta rate will be negotiated. A limited number of competitors may also be billeted for the regatta Boat Transport Transport between the Port of Brisbane and the clubhouse will be arranged for the NZ team. Containers will be deposited beside the rigging lawn for easy access. Clubhouse Facilities Darling Point Sailing Club has excellent facilities for sailors and also for hosting social events after racing as well as the opening and closing conferences and presentation nights.
