Re: Planning application 15/11736/FUL; Location: Zeals Garage (The Old Petrol Station), Chapel Lane, Zeals BA12 6NL Proposed change of use from petrol station to car wash.

Dear Sirs,

I wish to object to the above planning application on the following grounds:-

1. Operating Hours - The proposed hours of operation are too long at 0900 to 1900 hours seven days a week. In particular these operating hours on a Saturday afternoon, Sundays and Bank Holidays would set a precedent in our small village location and are unacceptable.

2. Safety and Parking - Parking is already a problem in the area of the proposed car wash. Parents of children at Whitesheet Primary Academy - which is very close to the Proposed car wash - cannot park outside the school. Chapel Lane narrows at the bottom of our drive and vehicles often mount the pavement to continue up Chapel Lane to the School and beyond. I am concerned how emergency vehicles would access properties past the entrance to the car wash.

The entrance in or out of the proposed car wash on one side is next to the entrance of our property and on the other side to Zeals Motors workshop. A car-wash queue will completely block and eliminate the available parking much of the time, especially at busy periods.

There will be additional parking required by the employees.

The footpath runs along the proposed car wash boundary. If the pavement is wet it could be very hazardous to the public.

3. Drainage – I have concerns regarding whether the existing drainage system can cope with the volume of waste water that the site user will be disposing of, without causing flooding. Also safely disposing of any chemicals used to clean the vehicles. 4. Effluent - The overspray may, depending on wind direction, reach the footpath and members of the public or our garden to the rear of the car wash.

5. Conservation Area - That the present exterior colour scheme of light blue, in particular the large corrugated plastic screen, is not in keeping with a building within the Conservation Area.

Yours sincerely

Alison Norris (Mrs)
