CANBY, OREGON 97013 $2.00 1997 FLEUR DE LIS GARDENS GREETINGS 1997 As we are somewhat above flood level and have sandy soil, we were fortunate to be out of last years soggy, water logged and rotting areas. Plants were fine and bloom was superb. Our only trouble was running out of stock. So far we have found no damage and plants look wonderful. Last year we dropped many varieties and now more are being eliminated, as next year (1998) we will list only our own introductions and very limited niomber of others. We feel its time to relax, to browse, to visit other gardens and to just enjoy ourselves. So extras will be above and beyond the call of duty, as they say. We have many other new Iris, but not enough to list. These we will eliminate by using them as extra, extras. Should you receive any of these you will have to find descriptions elsewhere.] Do come and enjoy the 97 season with us and have a top notch one yourself. VL. 38" (Wanda Wood X ((Pagoda Goddess x Beverly Sills) x (Ming Porcelain x (Courtin Time Sib x (BonBon x Painted Clouds))) X ((Facsimile x Ovation) x Angels Touch)) Our latest pink, this is one of the most colorful. Son Jim selected it first in '92 and gave it a number in '93. It is large, nicely formed with broad semiflaring falls and well domed standards. It is heavily ruffled and long lasting. Its color of deep geranium pink is enhanced by a smooth undertone of orange and a deep orange red Beard. If has excellent branching and so many buds it's always a bonfire of pink. #93-52 $35.00 AVE (Tompkins 1997) M. VL 39" (Sdlg. involving Ave Maria, One Clear Call x Sdlg. involving Frost Alert, Fine China, Cynthia Ann x Winter Watch) X Cloud Kingdom. This descendant of our first whites, Ave Maria and One Clear Call has enormous, well shaped flowers, perfectly placed on strong, tall, well branched stalks. Nicknamed Joey's White here at home. Last year we were all forced to admit that daughter in law Mary Jo was right. Grown with other whites, its color was so pure and so white its made all the others look gray or bluish. Visitors loved it and we think you will too. #93-82 $40.00 DRUID'S CHANT (Tompkins 1997) M.L. 40" (Sdlg. involving Sound and Fury, Dark Twilight, Burgermeister, Adventuress, Mt Music line X (Syncopation x (Jungle Dusk x Syncopation)) X (In Town X Syncopation) A huge, sensational flower in the dark bicolor class. This has broad, gently waved petals, perfectly domed standards and semiflaring falls. The standards are of gleaming, shimmering iridescent blendings of vinaccous champagne buff with a bright taffeta like infusion of pale glittering Cocoa and Smoke that sit above smooth, unveined falls of satiny velvet done in ultra vivid fuchsia rose, that are enhanced by a touch of rich coppery chocolate across the hafts, highlighting its blue, cocoa tipped beard. #93-52 $45.00 2 TUNNEL OF LIGHT GOSSAMER GOWN ENTITy (Tompkins 1997) ML.- VL. 39" From lines involving Licorice Stick, Tinsel Tovm, Ovation, Cimbay, River Hawk, Stepping Out, Silver Peak, Envoy, dark Sib to Bayberry Candle. An arresting and very intriguing bicolor done in different colors. Strange but exotic and other world looking, like an Entity from Outer Space. Large, perfectly formed with domed standards and near horizontal falls. It has odd silvery, near white stands tinted smoky silver above its wide rounded falls of chestnut and plum black. A dark blackish bronze beard on its clean, unveined haft adds to its "Out of this World" look. So different it draws visitors back again and again. #93-43 $35.00 EVENING CALM (Tompkins 1997) EM. L. 38" ((Swedish Spring x Sib) x Get up and Go) x (Hushaby Time x Magic Kiss)) X ((Hushaby Time x Lullaby of Spring) x Swedish Spring). Our first in this color range since Swedish Spring. This is a large fluted and ruffled flower with standards of rich lemon. Clean and glittery falls of very broad, ruffled flaring form done in a shimmering shade of bright lilac blue touched lemon gold deep in the throat at the start of its deep golden beard. A faint touch of palest copper seems to glitter around the edges of the ruffled blooms. Well branched. Lots of buds and long lasting. #93-28 $35.00 FULL MOON MAGIC (Tompkins 1997) M.L. 39/f ((Burgermeister x Smooth Flow) x (Syncopation x Ming Porcelain)) X ((Tinsel Town x Syncopation) x (Hollywood Blonde x Churchill Downs)) This is a huge ruffled and picoteed flower of cool Moonlight yellow. A self, its beard is the same color, touched very white on its tip. Something in its makeup gives it an ethereal moonlight blue touch. Excellent stalks, show type branching and plenty of buds. #93-13C $40.00 GOSSAMER GOWN (Tompkins 1997) M.L. 38// Line from Summer Serenade, Lovely Jan, Ming Porcelain sib X line from Royal Gold, Tinsel Town, Ovation. Coveted by every visitor since its first bloom. This is huge and beautifully formed, with ultra broad, perfectly domed standards and semiflaring falls. It is beautifully ruffled and picoteed. Basic color is pale cream with the stands having a taffeta like tint of vivacious 3 copper peach that appears to hover hazily over the ruffles and the broad falls appear to have a pale lilac pink over its cream undertone. There is a good quarter inch or more of a peachy copper gold band that circles the ruffled and gilt flecked picoteed edges. Tall, strong well branched stalks. This is a real Tour de Force, making one think of a dancer in a lovely gown of fluffy, ruffled, glittering organdy and voile. #93-44A $45.00 GRAND RESERVE (Tompkins 1997) EM. VL. 40" ((Untamed Sdlg. line x (Pizzazz x Rumbling Thunder)) x ((Matinee Idol X Masada) x (Syncopation x Masada)) X (Night Lightning x Thriller) Another that's a favorite of everyone and a special choice of son Jim's. This is large with huge flaring flowers of the most brilliant Violet that we've seen. It's a self of ultra clean, very sleek, glistening finish. Its fat, full beard of rich violet has a tiny touch of mustard on the tips. The extra large, broad petaled, ultra ruffled flowers are well placed on tall elegantly branched stalks. A truly gorgeous eye catcher. #93-335 $35.00 BORDER IRIS BABY TALK (Tompkins 1997) M.VL. 22" Courtin' Time X long lines involving Punch, Judy, Cat Nap, Intermission, etc. A lovely, new border that no one can resist. Excellently formed, flaring and fluted. Very well branched. An excellent breeder, we are anxious to see its offspring. Seems as if you look at the flower and even "think" pollen, it will set a pod. #95-78 $25.00 4 1997 PERSONALITY PARADE $10.00 Each — Net, or all six for $50.00 Due to heavy hybridizing we held back this years varieties, as most all of you who collect and swear by the paraders know.
