WILDLIFE BIOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT/EVALUATION, WILDLIFE REPORT, AND MANAGEMENT INDICATOR SPECIES ASSESSMENT for the ANGELUS OAKS UNDERSTORY BURN PROJECT San Bernardino National Forest Prepared By: Jeffrey L. Lincer, PhD, Consulting Wildlife Biologist Prepared by: _ Kim Boss_______________________ Date: 15 August 2011______ Kim Boss, Wildlife Biologist Input and Reviewed by: Kathie Meyer .Date: 16 August 2011____ Kathie Meyer, District Wildlife Biologist This page intentionally left blank Biological Assessment/Evaluation, Wildlife Report and MIS Assessment Angelus Oaks Understory Burn Project SUMMARY This report addresses the potential effects of the proposed project on Federally Threatened, Endangered, Proposed, and Candidate (TEPC) wildlife species, Forest Service Sensitive (S) wildlife species, and wildlife Management Indicator Species (MIS) as well as general wildlife that are known or likely to occur in the Angelus Oaks Understory Burn Project Area (i.e., area considered for this analysis, including downstream). The project is located on the San Bernardino National Forest (SBNF) surrounding the community of Angelus Oaks, in San Bernardino County, California. The proposed treatments are designed to maintain the effectiveness of the fuel reduction treatments developed during the Angelus Oaks Community Defense Project of 2004 and to protect Angelus Oaks and the surrounding areas from wildfire. Proposed treatments would be accomplished through a combination of manual and prescribed fire (pile and broadcast burning with hand-firing methods) treatments to maintain and remove understory hazardous fuels. Non-native Spanish broom will also be removed using mechanical removal and cut-and-daub application method of glyphosate herbicide. Design Criteria are proposed as needed, to minimize impacts to wildlife and other resources. -
1796 Spring Summer 1797 Spring Late 1790S-Early 1800S
1796 Spring THE FRANKENSTEIN / DRACULA WAR While attempting to live a normal life among men, the Frankenstein Monster is blackmailed by the almost-immortal Count de Saint-Germain into attacking Count Dracula. Dracula refers to tales of a monstrous golem, in Prague. After various events, in which the Creature and Dracula almost become allies, they once again turn on each other and eventually fight to a standstill. Comic book miniseries by Roy Thomas, Jean-Marc Lofficier, Claude St. Aubin, Allen Nunis, and Armando Gil, Topps Comics, 1995. After these events, the Monster heads back for the Arctic, with the events of “Black as the Pit, From Pole to Pole” transpiring several years later. The tale of the Golem of Prague is the story of the creation of a golem, a man, or Homunculus, crafted out of clay by a Rabbi known as the Maharal, in order to protect the 16th-century Jews of Prague from persecution. Summer. Birth of Edmond Dantes (Count of Monte-Cristo). Summer RAMAGE Lt. Ramage recalls his lack of skill at playing cards: “…He always found the game too slow, and had a bad memory. In fact his complete inability to remember the cards already played at those interminable games of whist at the Superb used to drive that fellow Hornblower mad. Yet, Ramage remembered with amusement, he sometimes won simply because he was such a bad player: even if Hornblower guessed the cards he held it was no help since his play was completely unpredictable. Nor, when Ramage won, did Hornblower like being reminded that surprise was the vital element in tactics.” The first novel in the Ramage series by Dudley Pope. -

Last year we dropped many varieties and now more are being eliminated, as next year (1998) we will list only our own introductions and very limited niomber of others. We feel its time to relax, to browse, to visit other gardens and to just enjoy ourselves. So extras will be above and beyond the call of duty, as they say. We have many other new Iris, but not enough to list. These we will eliminate by using them as extra, extras.
