Communications 2 Overview Bridge River System 3 Capital Plan Update Bridge River • Generating Station 1 o Units 1- 4 – planning currently underway, targeted completion in 2028 o Units 1- 4 Penstock Internal Recoating, planning currently underway, targeted Above: Bridge River 2 Unit 6 – Unit completed and completion in 2028 generating power • Generating Station 2: o Units 7&8 – pre-assembly work underway, targeted completion in 2021 o Concurrent Penstock Internal Recoating projects start this summer – targeted completion for both penstocks in 2021 Above: stator frame sits ready to be shipped to Bridge River 2 for work on Units 7&8. 4 Capital Plan Update La Joie Dam • La Joie Dam construction is targeted to begin in 2026 with targeted completion in 2031 • Currently reviewing schedule – still early stages • Construction will require low water levels in Downton Reservoir to enable the work 5 Capital Plan Update Seton Dam • Planning for Seton Generator Upgrade is currently underway, targeted completion in 2026 Dam Safety • Early planning stages for Surge Spill Hazard Mitigation project (Mission Mountain). Targeted completion in 2021. 6 Capital Plan Update Transmission • Transformer replacement work at Bridge River 1 and Bridge River Terminal, currently underway, targeted completion in 2020 and 2023, respectively Above and right: Crews install structures for the • Preliminary planning underway for 60L021 re-alignment transmission line work in the region, work between Lillooet and Shalalth targeted completion in 2025 completed in 2018. 7 COVID-19 Response Pandemic Response Plan: outlines our response to various stages of an outbreak and our plans for critical and supporting functions. • Employees and contractors are following all Provincial and Federal requirements around social distancing and self-isolation. • Station Operation crews have been scaled back, essential work continues at La Joie Dam and Bridge River Generation Station for capital projects and maintenance work that is important to the safety and reliability of our system. • Site specific measures have been put in place to reduce the risk of exposure to other workers and the public. Eg. “Pods,” more frequent cleaning, social distancing • Transmission and Distribution line related work was scaled back to focus on emergency and priority. • Ongoing monitoring. 8 Workforce • BC Hydro anticipates the workforce (primarily contractors) associated with our current capital plans for Bridge River to be between 75-125 workers in 2020. • Most of the construction activity would be concentrated between August 2020 and February 2021. • BC Hydro Boat Operator – anticipate operators needed for fall/winter 2020 to transport workers from the boat dock at Seton Lake to the plant 9 Accommodation • Local accommodation is the priority, wherever possible. o For projects at Bridge 1, Bridge 2 and the Bridge River Terminal substation, spaces in Tsal’álh and Seton Portage will be prioritized. o For projects at Seton (2023/2025), we will look to accommodate workers in Lillooet. o In Lillooet, local hotels or local private houses will be used. 10 Accommodation 2020 (~75-125 workers) o Projects at Bridge River, most workers expected to be accommodated in Tsal’álh/Seton Portage with some in Lillooet. Forecast • 2021 (~25 workers) o ~25 workers at Bridge River mostly accommodated in Tsal’álh/Seton Portage. • 2022 (~10 workers) o ~10 workers on various projects throughout the region accommodated close to the work sites 11 Safety • A BC Hydro Management Plan includes all aspects of safety and emergency response such as: • Travel • Working alone procedures • Code of Conduct • Evacuation • Policies and procedures • No lost time incidents reported last year. 12 Recreation Sites • We’ve begun reopening day- use recreation sites and facilities that allow for physical distancing. • Some recreation sites and campgrounds that attract larger crowds remain closed for the time being. • Bridge River area sites remain closed. These include: o Muddy Clay picnic area o Gun Creek o Seton Beach o Naxwit Picnic Area o Seton Dam campground 13 Community Investment • Post-Secondary Scholarships • 2, $500 scholarships offered to students pursuing post-secondary studies in STEM or trades training • Open to all students graduating from Lillooet Secondary School. • Applications accepted April15 - May 22, 2020. • Community grants • $5,000 • Sk’il Mountain School bike park 14 Communications • Open house • Local ads • Bi-annual newsletter • Project one-pagers • Delegations to local governments • www.bchydro.com/bridgeriver 15 16 .
