Luas is a public transport tram system that operates in Dublin, Ireland. This tram system connects suburban parts of Dublin on two tramlines, which run through the city centre. These tramlines are: • The Green Line: connecting Bride’s Glen (on the south side of the city) to Broombridge (on the north side) • The Red Line: connecting Saggart and Tallaght (on the southwestern side of Dublin) to The Point in Dublin Docklands View the Luas network map here. Luas Operating Hours & Frequency The Luas operates as follows: • Monday to Friday: 05:30 to 00:30 • Saturdays: 06:30 to 00:30 • Sundays & Public Holidays: 07:00 to 23:00 Frequency is dependent on peak and off peak times. Trams operate at a 3 - 5 minute frequency during peak hours of operation and a 12 – 15 minute frequency during off peak hours of operation. Peak times correspond to: • Monday to Friday: morning (7am-10am) and evening (4pm to 7pm) • Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays: 11.00am to 8.00pm There are electronic displays telling you the time of the next tram at every Luas stop. Valid Luas Tickets When traveling on Luas, possession of a valid ticket is required. A valid ticket can be in the form of: • A Leap Card • A Luas Paper Ticket Luas paper tickets can be purchased and Leap Cards can be topped up using the Luas Ticket Vending Machines (TVM’s) located on each platform at every Luas stop. Your ticket must be valid in all Luas zones for which you travel in. If you are using a Leap Card, you must validate it at the beginning and end of your journey using the validator on the platform. Our Revenue Protection Officers (RPOs) are entitled to check that the your pass or ticket is valid and may seek supporting documentation and/or proof of identity. Passengers found without a valid ticket will be charged a standard fare of €100. If you pay the Standard Fare Notice within 14 days from the date of issue, a lower rate of €45 will be accepted. If you fail to pay this standard fare within 28 days, you may be prosecuted. Luas Park and Ride Facilities Car parking is available at certain Luas stops. You pay for parking before boarding the tram at one of the Luas TVM’s, by using the ParkByText app or by calling 0818 444 999. The only bicycles permitted on the tram are folding bicycles stored in a carrier bag. Your Safety on Luas Your personal safety is a priority for us.
