Fot. AIPN ARTYKUŁ Srebrna drużyna Mistrzostw Świata w 1974 r. OKRES HISTORYCZNY (1970-1980) Od Gdańska do Gdańska Autor: ROBERT SZCZEŚNIAK 10.06.2021 Na przełomie lat 60. i 70. polska piłka nożna zagościła na europejskich salonach. Początek temu dały sukcesy drużyn klubowych. Legia Warszawa w sezonie 1969/1970 dotarła do półfinału Pucharu Europy Mistrzów Krajowych, gdzie musiała uznać wyższość Feyenoordu Rotterdam. W następnym sezonie 1970/1971 oba kluby dotarły do ćwierćfinałów analogicznych rozgrywek, gdzie Legia przegrała w dwumeczu z Atletico Madryt, a Górnik ponownie z Manchesterem City. Droga do Wembley Kiedy w grudniu 1970 r.

“perplexity is the beginning of knowledge…” Kahlil Gibran A Tear and A Smile (1950) STYLIN’! SAMBA JOY VERSUS STRUCTURAL PRECISION THE SOCCER CASE STUDIES OF BRAZIL AND GERMANY Dissertation Presented in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for The Degree Doctor of Philosophy in the Graduate School of The Ohio State University By Susan P. Milby, M.A. * * * * * The Ohio State University 2006 Dissertation Committee: Approved by Professor Melvin Adelman, Adviser Professor William J. Morgan Professor Sarah Fields _______________________________ Adviser College of Education Graduate Program Copyright by Susan P. Milby 2006 ABSTRACT Soccer playing style has not been addressed in detail in the academic literature, as playing style has often been dismissed as the aesthetic element of the game. Brief mention of playing style is considered when discussing national identity and gender. Through a literature research methodology and detailed study of game situations, this dissertation addresses a definitive definition of playing style and details the cultural elements that influence it. A case study analysis of German and Brazilian soccer exemplifies how cultural elements shape, influence, and intersect with playing style. Eight signature elements of playing style are determined: tactics, technique, body image, concept of soccer, values, tradition, ecological and a miscellaneous category. Each of these elements is then extrapolated for Germany and Brazil, setting up a comparative binary. Literature analysis further reinforces this contrasting comparison. Both history of the country and the sport history of the country are necessary determinants when considering style, as style must be historically situated when being discussed in order to avoid stereotypification. Historic time lines of significant German and Brazilian style changes are determined and interpretated.

MLS as a Sports Product – the Prominence of the World’s Game in the U.S. April 8, 2021 Abstract The purpose of this Working Paper is to analyze how soccer at the professional level in the U.S., with Major League Soccer as a focal point, has developed over the span of a quarter of a century. It is worthwhile to examine the growth of MLS from its first game in 1996 to where the league currently stands as a business as it moves past its 25th anniversary. The 1994 World Cup (held in the U.S.) and the subsequent implementation of MLS as a U.S. professional league exerted a major positive influence on soccer participation and fandom in the U.S. Consequently, more importance was placed on soccer in the country’s culture. The research reported here explores the league’s evolution and development through the cohesion existing between its sporting and business development, as well as its performance.

  • Record Breakers the RISE, RISE and RISE of the WORLD RECORD TRANSFER FEE in FOOTBALL
Record breakers THE RISE, RISE AND RISE OF THE WORLD RECORD TRANSFER FEE IN FOOTBALL With the summer 2016 football transfer window now closed, pundits are taking stock of a frenzy of deals headlined by Paul Pogba’s record-breaking move to Manchester United. But economists are taking note too. In a summer which saw English Premier League clubs collectively spend more than £1 billion on transfers for the first time, Pogba’s £89 million (€105 million) price tag makes him the world’s most expensive transfer to date – at least by some measures. In this bulletin we explore the seemingly unstoppable rise in the world record transfer fee over time. And – in light of the increasing globalisation of football, new money from billionaire owners and lucrative deals for TV rights – we ask just how much higher fees might rise in the future. POGBA – THE FIRST €100 MILLION MAN Giuseppe Savoldi became the first player to be transferred for more than £1 million when he was bought by Napoli from Bologna in the Italian league back in 1975. Fast forward 41 years to 2016, and Paul Pogba’s transfer from Juventus to Manchester United makes him the latest player to hold the title of the world’s most expensive player in a deal estimated to be worth at least £89 million (€105 million). Ironically, Juventus had originally bought Pogba from Manchester United just four years previously in a deal worth just £1.5 million. Figure 1. TO THE MEMBERS OF FIFA Circular no. 1208 Zurich, 30 October 2009 SG/lvi 2009 FIFA Women's World Player and FIFA World Player Dear Sir or Madam, We are pleased to inform you that FIFA will be honouring the world's best men and women players for the nineteenth successive year at the 2009 FIFA World Player Gala in Zurich on 21 December 2009. The enhanced voting procedure that FIFA introduced in 2004 will again enable coaches and captains of men's and women's national teams to nominate the three top male and female players of the year. To simplify this process, the Football Committee and the Committee for Women's Football and the FIFA Women's World CUpTM drew up one list of nominees each for the men's and women's award. The coaches and captains may vote for th ree of their personal favourites from these lists only. Please arrange for the coaches and captains of your men's and women's national teams to fill in the enclosed voting forms and return them to us no later than 19 November 2009.
