ACCEPTANCE PACKET

• Upon receipt of all required items, your letter of acceptance packet will be emailed to you within 2 business days. • For F-1 students, the acceptance packet will contain your letter of acceptance, immigration information, and an I-20 form; you will need these documents to pay your SEVIS fee and apply for an F-1 visa through the nearest US embassy or consulate. • Your acceptance packet will also include specific information about the TLC location including the city, arrangements for airport pickup, and other useful information.

PAYMENT INFORMATION

• The application fee is nonrefundable, and it must be received before this application will be processed. • Tuition prepayment of 1 session may be required for select countries; to see whether prepayment is required for your country, view the Tuition Prepayment Policy’s list of countries on our website at www.thelanguagecompany.com/policies or contact [email protected] • Fees for services such as housing placement (nonrefundable), airport transportation, or acceptance packet processing (nonrefundable), must be paid before the service will be processed. • Pricing is listed in US dollars and is subject to change; payments must be made in US dollars using an acceptable payment method: Flywire; bank transfer; check drawn on a U.S. bank; or credit card, both domestic and international. Payee must pay all transaction fees, regardless of whether the wire transfer is incoming or outgoing. Western Union is not accepted.

ENROLLMENT FEES

Application Fee for Online Enrollment Online $20 Fee is refundable when minimum required student enrollment is not met.

Application Fee for In-Person Enrollment In-Person $100 Fee is nonrefundable. Applicants of Private Lessons will receive a $50 tuition credit upon class start.

Form I-20 Processing Fee In-Person $25 Fee is nonrefundable. Acceptance packet, including I-20, will be emailed to applicant. This fee is subject to change in the future on SEVP guidelines relative to I-20 issuance

Housing Placement Fee In-Person $200 Fee is nonrefundable. Fee covers one housing placement in homestay or student housing. Refer to the TLC application for pricing and to TLC Homestay Policy for terms & conditions.

Health Insurance Fee In-Person $85 Price is per 4 weeks. TLC requires health insurance for all F-1 students. Fee is waived if proof of health insurance is provided upon arrival.

Listening and Speaking In-Person $478.50 Price is per 4 weeks. Minimum 2 weeks required. Includes 30 instructional hours. This course focuses on English communication skills for language learners. Not available to F-1 students à la carte.

Grammar Course In-Person $478.50 Price is per 4 weeks. Minimum 2 weeks required. Includes 30 instructional hours. This course focuses on English grammar skills for language learners. Not available to F-1 students à la carte.

Reading and Writing In-Person $638 Price is per 4 weeks. Minimum 2 weeks required. Includes 40 instructional hours. This course focuses on English reading and writing skills for language learners. Not available to F-1 students à la carte.

Additional Terms and Conditions for Regular Offerings À La Carte: • Instructional hours begin on First Tuesday and end on Final Thursday. Orientation is held on the first Monday of the session. • Students who plan to attend 2 weeks must obtain start-date approval from the TLC center in advance. • Semi-Intensive English graduation will not meet TLC partner institutions' college admission requirements. • Program availability may vary. • Pricing is in USD and is subject to change.

One-on-One English Lessons Online or $17.50 Price is per 30 minutes and is for one-on-one instruction. English lessons are lessons related to subjects or classes available In-Person through our regular programs, including test preparation, which are not field-specific. Currently attending TLC students and US citizens/permanent residents are eligible for 20% discount.

One-on-One Custom English Lessons Online or $22.50 Price is per 30 minutes and is for one-on-one instruction. Custom English lessons are field-specific lessons that are generally In-Person professionally oriented instruction. Currently attending TLC students and US citizens/permanent residents are eligible for 20% discount.

Private Group Lessons Online or Varies Price is based on group number, duration, subject matter, frequency, and contract. Contact [email protected] for In-Person a quote.

MISCELLANEOUS FEES

Late Payment Fee $25 Continuing students must pay for the following session by Final Friday of the current session or pay a late fee of $25 per week.

Returned Payment Fee $50 Returned payments either due to insufficient funds or fraud will be charged this fee.

Failure to Return Class Book Set Fee $50 Students who fail to return the class set of textbooks for a given level incur this fee.

Records Request Fee Varies There is no fee for a records request when you pick it up in-person at a TLC location. The fee to mail records is $25 domestic US and $90 for international mailing.

Center Director and sponsor may agree on additional activities or services. Such additions may result in added costs to the package price. • Chaperone to student ratio: 10:1 • Optional Activities: The above quoted $200 for optional activities includes an overnight trip (2-days; 1-night) in Edmond and South Bend. If applicable and possible, the director and organizer may agree to change the overnight trip to 2 days of theme park within the same city. • The number and type of activities will be determined by the center director and organizer/sponsor.

2. Airport transportation cannot be secured until the completed Airport Transportation Request, fees, and itinerary have been provided to the center. The center reserves the right to deny assistance should the reservation not be paid and scheduled at least 2 weeks prior to the student’s scheduled arrival. 3. Flights scheduled to arrive between 9:00pm and 7:00am may incur additional transfer charges; also, such arrivals between 9:00pm and 7:00am may not permit immediate housing check-in and the student will be asked to secure a for the evening arrival at the student’s own expense. 4. If you are requesting transportation services to airports not published as pick-up and drop-off destinations for TLC, TLC will provide the additional cost on the invoice; you must confirm airport exceptions with the Center Director before purchasing your ticket. 5. Unaccompanied minors (under 18 years of age) will incur additional fees; please contact the Center Director for cost.

Housing Service Terms & Conditions:

Housing availability varies by location; inquire with your TLC location for details. Because housing availability is not guaranteed, TLC recommends that all housing-related forms and fees be submitted at least four weeks prior to arrival in order to secure a housing reservation. Refer to the TLC Website for additional information.

A. Homestay accommodations vary by family and must be prearranged and agreed upon prior to student arrival. Once a student accepts a placement, verbally or in writing, the contract between that student and family begins and policies apply. Refer to the Homestay Policy on the TLC Website for more information. B. On-campus student housing costs, meal plans, and availability are subject to change during Fall and Summer semester starts and during scheduled university holidays such as Spring Break, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. C. Price varies by apartment and is subject to availability. D. This option does not include a meal plan; however, students may add funds to their Indiana University South Bend ID cards to purchase on-campus meals.

TRANSFER OF COURSES AND CREDIT POLICY

TLC does not accept transfer of credits or courses from any other non-TLC ESL programs. Students are tested upon entry and placed in the level of competency as determined by the results of the placement exam and/or official results on a nationally recognized English proficiency exam.

REFUND POLICY

1. If TLC cancels student's program or if minimum required student enrollment is not met, TLC will refund all monies paid. 2. If TLC denies student's application, TLC will refund all monies paid except the application fee, acceptance packet processing fee, and housing placement fee. 3. If student's visa is denied and student provides proof of the visa denial to TLC before the last start date listed on student's TLC I-20, TLC will refund all monies paid except the application fee, acceptance packet processing fee, and housing placement fee. 4. If student is a no-show or if student cancels enrollment before the start of student’s first session, refund eligibility will be based on the following: a. If student entered the US on TLC I-20, TLC will retain four weeks of tuition, incurred housing costs, and a maximum of $500 in nonrefundable fees. b. If student did not enter the US on TLC I-20, TLC will refund all monies paid except incurred housing costs and a maximum of $500 in nonrefundable fees. 5. If student withdraws from classes, student will be refunded all monies paid except nonrefundable fees and incurred service fees. Tuition refund will be based on the conditions below. These same withdrawal provisions apply when a student is terminated by TLC due to his/her failure to adhere to TLC’s attendance, student conduct, or student progress policy. This includes when a student is terminated due to 10 consecutive class days of non-attendance. a. When student withdraws during student’s first session, the student’s first session of tuition will not be refunded. b. When student withdraws during a session that is not the student’s first session, tuition is refunded based on last date of attendance (LDA): i. LDA in first week of session: 75% of tuition refunded ii. LDA in second week of session: 50% of tuition refunded iii. LDA after second week of session: 0% of tuition refunded c. Prepaid, unattended sessions will be refunded as follows: i. If student has not attended past student’s midpoint of prepaid sessions, student's current session is refunded per Items 5a-5b and all remaining tuition is refunded. ii. If student has attended past student’s midpoint of prepaid sessions, no tuition is refunded. 6. Students are encouraged to submit a request to withdraw or cancel in writing to help ensure that immigration records are accurate and up-to-date. 7. Refunds are made, whenever possible, to the original payment method and the originating source: student, agent, or third party. 8. Refund requests are processed within 45 calendar days of the date of the request or within 45 calendar days of the date of determination, whichever is earlier for enrolled students and within 45 calendar days of the date of determination for non-enrolled students. 9. If student receives enrollment assistance from a TLC representative authorized to collect payments on behalf of TLC, any refund for which student may be eligible will be coordinated through this representative and this may affect student's eligibility for a refund.

Term Definition Cancellation A student who never attends classes at TLC after enrolling and informs TLC in advance. Date of Determination The DOD is the first date on which any of the following situations occurs: 1. the date the student gives notice (written or verbal) of withdrawal to TLC; or 2. the date the student’s status is changed to no-show due to failure to enroll by the First Friday of the student’s scheduled start date; or 3. the date on which TLC is required to terminate the student due to the student’s failure to adhere to the institution’s attendance, conduct, or student satisfactory progress policy. Group, Family, and Resident Discount Plans These discount plans are detailed on the TLC website. All prepaid sessions under the TLC group, family, and resident discount plans are charged at the standard tuition rate; the discount is earned at the completion of each session or earned at the completion of each week if prorated. Last Date of Attendance The final date a student attends class for any period of time. Last Date of Attendance IDL The final date a student actively participates in a synchronous online class session or the date the student last completed academic work, whichever is later. 1/19/2021 Page 5

Multi-Session Discount Plan This discount policy is detailed on the TLC website. All prepaid sessions under a multi-session discount are charged at the standard tuition rate; the multi-session discount is earned upon completion of the student’s prepaid sessions. Nonrefundable Fees The application fee, form I-20 processing fee, and housing placement fee are nonrefundable fees since their processing begins upon receipt. No-Show Student does not start classes or notify TLC of a change in class start date by the Friday following the scheduled Monday start date or by the Friday following the last Monday start date listed on a non-immigrant student’s I-20 document. No-Show IDL Student does not actively participate in a synchronous online class session or complete academic work by the first Friday after the course’s start date. Withdrawal A student who has attended at least one class at the institution, but does not complete the program the student enrolled in.
