EUROPE & MIDDLE EAST 85 IFSA & BUTLER UNIVERSITY IFSA (Institute for Study Abroad) was founded in 1988 at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, as a provider of study abroad programming for U.S. undergraduates. Over time, IFSA has maintained its independence as a non-profit organization and its close connection as an affiliate of Butler University, a nationally recognized, comprehensive university.

In addition to providing transcripts for all IFSA students, Butler University endorses all IFSA-taught classes through a faculty committee that reviews class syllabi and provides curriculum advice, verifying that our academic rigor meets or exceeds expectations. Contributing to our high level of academic integrity, Butler University reviews all IFSA programs prior to program launch, and representatives from the university serve on IFSA advisory panels, our National Advisors Council Executive Committee, and our Board of Directors.

At the conclusion of your program, you and your home institution will receive a Butler University transcript with your overseas credit and grades translated to the U.S. system, making it faster and easier to receive credit for your coursework.
