Only two international students per home. Each student must be of a different language background unless otherwise approved by the Director of Homestays Note: Placing a student in a home that is hosting an international student from any other English language program is discouraged. 2. All placements must be a private room unless otherwise requested by the student. 3. A homestay host biography sheet must be on file in the Executive Offices prior to, or at the time of any student's placement. Use of homes without this information being on file will not be permitted. 4. Travel time to/from the homestay to the school cannot exceed 45 minutes (via public transportation) each way. Exceptions may be made in certain situations with the approval of Home Placement Services, Inc. Travel time is defined from the time of departing the home to the time of arrival at the Center (i.e., inclusive of time to walk to a bus stop or other public transportation point). 5. Prior to placement of a student in a new home, a personal visit to the home must be completed by the homestay organizer or his/her representative. All homes may be revisited once a year to ensure that no adverse changes in the home have occurred since the time of the initial visit. -

By Jan Alexander “We share the nation’s grief over the in comprehensible and senseless loss of life at Parkland, Florida, and we share the desire to make our com munities safer,” reads a letter that American Outdoor Brands Chairman Barry Monheit and CEO James Debney sent to the Black Rock investment firm’s stewardship team on March 6. The letter makes it clear that American Outdoor Brands, the holding company for Smith & Wesson, supports better enforcement of existing gun safety laws, is not op posed to the development of “smart gun” technology, but is opposed to legislation that would require the use of such technology. The nine page statement was the company’s response to a similarly lengthy message from BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, who announced in early March that BlackRock would initiate a series of discussions with the three publicly traded companies whose primary business is firearms manufacturing: American Outdoor Brands, Vista Outdoor and Sturm, Ruger. BlackRock invests in all three companies through index funds. American Outdoor Brands – the manufacturer of the AR 15 style rifle used to kill 17 students and teachers at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland in February – is the only gunmaker so far to have responded publicly. Whether the comments will satisfy BlackRock remains to be determined, but at their annual meetings between May and September of this year, all three gun companies will face additional shareholder scrutiny over how their products are being used. -

Global Media Journal German Edition From the field An Exploratory Study of Global and Local Discourses on Social Media Regulation Andrej Školkay1 Abstract: This is a study of suggested approaches to social media regulation based on an explora- tory methodological approach. Its first aim is to provide an overview of the global and local debates and the main arguments and concerns, and second, to systematise this in order to construct taxon- omies. Despite its methodological limitations, the study provides new insights into this very rele- vant global and local policy debate. We found that there are trends in regulatory policymaking to- wards both innovative and radical approaches but also towards approaches of copying broadcast media regulation to the sphere of social media. In contrast, traditional self- and co-regulatory ap- proaches seem to have been, by and large, abandoned as the preferred regulatory approaches. The study discusses these regulatory approaches as presented in global and selected local, mostly Euro- pean and US discourses in three analytical groups based on the intensity of suggested regulatory intervention.
