We have some informa- tion for you which might be nice to keep at hand on your way to . Some information goes without saying and some are more on the peculiar side. Here we go!

BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME

• Don´t forget your passport. There will be passport checks both at the airport and after the bridge when entering Sweden. • If you are taking any medicine, please bring medical descriptions so that the nurse on Ven can trans- late it into Swedish lingo, if needed. • Swimming gear! We´re surrounded by lovely swimming water. The beach is never far away. A good towel might be handy as well. • Bring cool stuff for the annual auction/raffle! • Bring an instrument or two. Or maybe just a little noise gadget!

• You´re approaching Swedish time zone UTC +01. • We use the European standard sockets 230V (115V in bathrooms).

GETTING TO VEN WITH THE DANISH FERRY

When you land at Airport in you have two options to get to Ven. Both options ends with a ferry. ;) Either you take a ferry from Copenhagen, Havnegade no 39. The company name is Spar Ship- ping and has only one departure to Ven per day. The ferry leaves at 09.15 am. The fare is 280 Dkk return ticket and the trip takes about 90 minutes. www.sparshipping.dk/gb/page/trips-to-hven-66/

GETTING TO VEN WITH TRAIN THE SWEDISH WAY (RECOMMENDED)

...or you take a train leaving from the basement of the airport. You don´t have make any reservations for the train. On the street level in the arrival hall you will find a ticket machine that looks like this

The name of the train company is SKÅNETRAFIKEN and the machines has a language selection. You buy a ticket to for 170 SEK which by default includes the necessary Bus 3 fare to the ferry.

Take the elevator or the escalator one level down and catch the train.

When you arrive to Landskrona Train Station, we advice you to get cash before hopping on the bus to the ferry. This is the best cash point on your way to Ven. There is no cash machine on the island. You can use a credit card for all purchases on Ven except for the GORGG specific stuff, like drinks in our own bar. We will have a card solution as well, depending on the mobile connection but we prefer cash. The stuff in the bar cost either 20 SEK or 40 SEK, so the counting will be easy. All profit goes to the fund as usual. :) Now, take the Bus, line 3 to get to the ferry. The train fare is still valid on the bus.

3. Bus 3 to the ferry 2. ATM cash machine outside the ICA store 1. You leave the train station here

Best cash machine in the world!

You go with the bus to the final stop which is called Skeppsbron. You are now very close to the ferry. :)

1. The bus stop 2. The ferry You don´t have to make any reservations for the ferry. Now buy a ticket for the ferry which leaves every day at 8.20, 10.00, 11.30, 14.15, 16.00, 17.35, 20.15 and 21.30. You are adviced to park your car at the ferry´s parking lot and not bring it to Ven. (The cost for taking the car to Ven is about 1 400 SEK) The upside is that Ven is almost free from cars. There are two large parking lots. A 24-hour free parking, and a 7-day parking (cost 6 SEK / h between the hours. 9:00 to 17:00, week- ends free. The vending machine accepts Visa and MasterCard.

BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE MAINLAND

Check that you have Swedish cash. No cash machine on Ven.

In Sweden alcohol is only sold in special shops called Systembolaget. There is no such shop on Ven. Landskrona has one located pretty close to the ferry. The economically minded picks up what she or he wants at the airport in Copenhagen where prices are quite good. (There is a tax free shop in the baggage claim hall.) However, you will all have access to The GORGG PICKUP BAR in the Hospitality Shed!

ON THE ISLAND - YOU MADE IT!

Welcome! Ven is a nature preserve. This place is kept clean and beautiful and we leave it as we would like to find it. No picking flowers or felling trees!

You´re in Sweden. We drive on the “right” side of the road. At least when another veichle is approaching. :)

Either you will stay at Gamlegård in a cabin or in a room at Turistgården. Either way we recommend that you rent a bicycle for your whole stay so you´re free to move around and between our two headquarters. There is a HUGE bicycle rental service up the hill, just 200 m from the harbour. Don´t worry. You don´t have to book anything in advance. There are loads and loads of bikes! Ordinary bikes. Bikes with support motors. Even tandems! GORGGIFY YOURSELF

You will get more information to read when we meet. And maps. But we also ask you to show up on a daily basis for our morning meetings on both Turistgården and Gamlegård, so called “Words from the Wise”. On these occasions you get to know who´s expected for the day, what the planned activities are and so on. Please do attend. :)

We have a vision about this Gorgg. To make anything creative possible. We´ll try to inspire to collaborative mini projects. We want to include as many as possible in the magical world of actually playing music. So, feel very welcome to takeing part in the Ukulele Workshop on Wednesday! (Yeah, we have 40 ukes at hand). There will also be song writing and portait painting workshops. We hope to see you there.

Every year the Bigg Nigght has become a stage for Gentle Giant songs that have been prepared during a rehearsal. This week there will be an open rehearsal stage at Gamlegård every day between 14.00-16.00. We hope that the musicians among us take the opportunity to try out something new or teach each other your favourite GG phrases so that we have something to present on Saturday night!

A few songs have already been sort-of-prepared by some of the Gorgganizers: Talybont, Two Weeks in Spain, The Power & the Glory, I´m Turning Around, Inside Out, Home Again But there´s plenty of room for more, so dust off your old GG licks and get on up on the track! ;)

We have brought a bunch of musical instruments to the island. A drum kit with cymbals, three or four key- boards, a bass rig, a little guitar amp, some recorders, a couple of acoustic guitars, some percussion instru- ments, PA-system and, well you get it.

We are really looking forward to meeting you in one of Sweden´s little big worlds. Ven.
