Appropriate Direction, Explicit Strategies…

1 Namaskar!

In the year 2014, during the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party approached the people for a mandate based on their promise of a progressive and corruption free governance. The citizens of India responded in an overwhelming manner and gave us the power to rule single handedly. On 26th May, under the able leadership of Hon. Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi, we took up the reigns of power and since then we have embarked on our journey of achieving sustainable progress for the country. With a view to reinforcing the power of the party at the centre, the people of Maharashtra have voted in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party and bestowed the responsibility of governing the state also upon the Party. The people of have elected me and other candidates of our party from eight constituencies. We achieved this phenomenal success because the people yearned for liberation, ‘Free us from corruption and accelerate the chariot of development', they said. The nation has experienced clean, unblemished governance for the past 24 months. Decisions are taken with a view towards long- term development of the future generations and are not merely meant to win popularity. While I am completing two

2 years of my tenure as a Member of Parliament, the Central Government also completes its second year in power, I feel it is very important and necessary to establish a dialogue with you. I wish to reiterate some of the decisions taken by the Central Government. I also wish to draw your attention to some of the important decisions made by the State Government and place a brief record of the work I have done so far. It is with this intention that I am presenting this report to you. The Parliament plays a major role in analyzing carefully and incorporating various policies approved by the government in the proper legal framework. I am playing my role as a Member of Parliament very honestly and meticulously. I am also fulfi lling my duties as a responsible and sensitive representative of my city. For the past twenty- fi ve years, every one harped on the opinion that for the development of Pune city, it was necessary to establish, Development Authority (PMRDA). However, while the notifi cation of its formation was issued during the UPA regime; PMRDA actually came into existence at a time when BJP is ruling at the center. It has opened the doors to the construction of a ring road around the city, paved the way for systematic development and planned growth of the city in the future. The ‘JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) Project’ meant to clean the water of the river, which fl ows through the city, is in progress. The promises I made regarding the selection of Pune city for the Smart Cities Mission as well as the grant of ‘One Rank, One Pension’ to retired army personnel are now a reality. The Central Government has introduced schemes such as ‘Prime Minister’s Jan- Dhan Yojana’ and ‘Atal Pension Yojana’, to ensure that the commonest of the common Indian receives fi nancial and health related security. I have made eff orts to draw a large number of Pune citizens to benefi t from these schemes. We have received a massive response to these schemes. A strong organizational system has to be in place so that one is easily accessible to the public. I have been successful in developing the confi dence in the people that every person who comes to my offi ce fi nds a solution to her or his problem. I am striving for making Pune absolutely problem-free city. This is the quintessence of my work during the past two years. I will always welcome all your suggestions, as they will help me to serve better and fulfi ll my duties satisfactorily. I am thankful to the citizens of Pune, all the state and central ministers, BJP MLAs, BJP offi ce bearers, BJP corporators, colleagues and party workers who have been supporting me from day one to eff ectively execute my duties as a Member of Parliament. Thank you. - Anil Shirole

43 A Firm Move Towards Making Mula and Mutha rivers Pollution-free

If given the opportunity to represent Pune as Member of Parliament, I shall put in my best eff orts to make Mula and Mutha rivers pollution-free. I shall strive to implement all the schemes under the ‘National River Conservation Plan'.

This was the promise Shri. Anil Shirole had made in his manifesto before the Lok Sabha elections. Within one year of the elections, MP Shri. Anil Shirole, with the help of the Central Government has been successful in implementing concrete measures in that direction.

The prime reason for the depletion of Mula-Mutha is dumping un-treated wastewater into the rivers. It was for this reason that under the ‘National River Conservation Programme’ in July 2015, the Central Government permitted the ambitious project of establishing eleven waste water management centres equipped with modern technology worth Rs. 990 crore. These centres will treat 100% of wastewater produced in the city. This project is expected to be complete within three years.’ Japan International Cooperative Agency (JICA) will fund this project. Mula-Mutha Riverfront Beautifi cation Project (on the lines of Sabarmati Riverfront Park in Ahmedabad) shall also get implemented soon. 44 The Wastewater Management Centres along the banks of River Mutha
