DOCTOR WHO SERIES 10 EPISODE 1 "A Star In Her Eye" By Steven Moffat SHOOTING SCRIPT 16/06/2016 (SHOOTING BLOCK 1) DW10: EP 1 "A Star In Her Eye" by Steven Moffat - SHOOTING SCRIPT - 16/06/16 1 INT. THE DOCTOR’S OFFICE - DAY 1 - 16.00 1 The quietest opening we’ve ever had. We’re in a reasonably untidy office. Dust and books. Obviously academic. A university lecturer’s office. We hold this stationary shot - there’s a pleasing symmetry. There’s a door on the left of the screen, and a slightly open one on the right - like the two doors on a weather clock. Through the slightly open door we can see another, smaller room. In between the doors, there’s a desk, facing across the screen. Two empty chairs. The one in front of the closed door, is a simple, wooden chair. Facing it across the desk is an elegant swivel chair. Distantly, a bell chiming. We hear the chatter of distant voices - young people, chatting and laughing. Under that, the drone of traffic. Ordinary and still, for as long as we dare. Then: Squeak! Squeak! Squeak! It’s like the squeaking wheel on a supermarket trolley - and it’s getting closer. Now the closed door opens, revealing: Nardole. Much as we last saw him in The Husbands Of River Song. He steps into the room (always a squeak on his left leg) revealing: In the doorway, Bill. Young, female, cheeky as hell. Nardole stands clear of the door, gestures towards the wooden chair.

  • Professor River Song Was an Archeologist in Doctor Who, Who First Appeared When David Tennant, the 10Th Doctor Still Traveled with Donna Noble (2008)
Doctor Who “Silence in the Library” “Forest of the Dead” Professor River Song was an archeologist in Doctor Who, who first appeared when David Tennant, the 10th Doctor still traveled with Donna Noble (2008). The true identity of Professor River Song remained a secret until the 11th Doctor's next travel companion Amy Pond found out that in the future, River Song would become the Doctor's wife. A time traveler as well, the ending story of River Song was revealed earlier in 10th Doctor's “Silence in the Libray” and “Forest of the Dead”, the first time the Doctor met her. Quotes from Professor River Song: River: Hello Sweetie. The Doctor: Get out! ==================================== River: They've gone into warp drive. We're losing them. Stay close. The Doctor: I'm trying! River: Use the stabilizers. The Doctor: It (The Tardis) doesn't have stabilizers! River: The blue switches. The Doctor: The blue switches don't do anything! They're just blue. River: Yes, they're blue. They're the blue stabilizers! ==================================== River: Okay, I've mapped the probability vectors, done a full background temporal isometry, charted the ship to its destination and...parked us right alongside. The Doctor: "Parked us"? We haven't landed. River: Of course we've landed. I just landed her. The Doctor: But...it didn't make the noise. River: What noise? The Doctor: You know the [attempts to imitate the noise the TARDIS usually makes when it lands] River: It's not supposed to make that noise. You leave the brakes on. The Doctor: Yeah, well, it's a brilliant noise.

Disc 1. Later, the Doctor returned the diary to River, telling her that all the writing had returned, but he hadn't peeked; foreknowledge is dangerous. They did I nice job with this temporally paradoxical mash-up. I think I'm addicted. The story is perfectly interesting, to begin with, but feels very disappointing by the end. This particular boxset takes place some time after her last on-screen adventure She's River, it's timey-wimey, who knows! River meeting earlier incarnations of her husband has almost become a running joke by this point. River is very sick and is being attended to by her husband. View all Our Sites. Has image. It is well worth listening to if you like River Song in any capacity plus 8 shows up in one of the adventures. Definitely one of the best things Big Finish did all year. Ghosts by Jonathan Morris is the final story in the set, bringing the Tenth Doctor and River Song together for one last time on the spooky planet of Demonese 2. Exactly this River I wanted to get to know better, space parties, ancient tombs, feminism, and cosmic freemasonry. That was so good.

Whoever she really is, this archaeologist and time traveller has had more adventures and got into more trouble than most people in the universe. Single Digital Issue I thought this story was a lot of fun. She's such an elsive character and I love her flirty attitude and that she doesn't see herself short. Afterwards, the Doctor gives Mure a blunted sword that shoots tiny fireworks and Postumus keeps the emptied park open for the two of them alone, allowing them to have a picnic and enjoy the park's attractions. PART ONE THE DOCTOR AND HIS COMPANIONS 1 1 A Young-Old Face Out with the New and in with the Old in Doctor Who Richard Hewett Introduction ‘I approve of your new face, Doctor - so much more like mine.’ This line, spoken by the now ancient, enervated and seemingly dying Davros in ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’, is just one of many age-related barbs directed at the Twelfth Doctor during Peter Capaldi’s reign, serving as a constant reminder that the Time Lord is no longer (if, indeed, his on-screen self ever was)1 a young man. Throughout his tenure, friends and foes alike highlighted the latest incarnation’s wrinkled, somewhat cadaverous visage, grey hair, and scrawny body, the Doctor being variously described as a ‘desiccated man crone’ (‘Robot of Sherwood’), a ‘grey-haired stick insect’ (‘Listen’), and a ‘skeleton man’ (‘Last Christmas’).

  • Adventures in Time and Sound: Leitmotif and Repetition in Doctor Who
Adventures in Time and Sound: Leitmotif and Repetition in Doctor Who by Emilie Hurst A thesis submitted to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Music and Culture Carleton University Ottawa, Ontario © 2015 Emilie Hurst ii Abstract This thesis explores the intersections between repetition, leitmotif and the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze in the context the BBC television series Doctor Who (1963-1989; 2005- ). Deleuze proposes that instead of the return of the same, repetition, by its constant insertion in a new temporal context can produce difference as part of the process of the eternal return. He also rejects the concepts of being in favour of becoming. I argue his framework on repetition allows us to broaden the definition of the leitmotif and embrace the role of repetition. I analyse the leitmotif of three characters: Amy Pond, River Song, and the Doctor. In all three instances, the leitmotifs are an active participant in the process of becoming while, simultaneously, undergoing their own becoming. For River, the leitmotif also works as a territorializing refrain, while for the Doctor, use of leitmotif paradoxically gives the impression of being. iii Acknowledgements I would like to thank my advisors Alexis Luko and James Deaville for providing me with guidance along the way, as well as Paul Théberge who stepped in the final month to help me re- organize my thoughts. The input of all three helped insure that what follows is a much more cohesive, better organized final product. I would also like to thank graduate supervisors Anna Hoefnagels, and examiners Jesse Stewart and André Loiselle all of whom went out of their way to assure I completed my defense on time.
