Disc 1. Later, the Doctor returned the diary to River, telling her that all the writing had returned, but he hadn't peeked; foreknowledge is dangerous. They did I nice job with this temporally paradoxical mash-up. I think I'm addicted. The story is perfectly interesting, to begin with, but feels very disappointing by the end. This particular boxset takes place some time after her last on-screen adventure She's River, it's timey-wimey, who knows! River meeting earlier incarnations of her husband has almost become a running joke by this point. River is very sick and is being attended to by her husband. View all Our Sites. Has image. It is well worth listening to if you like River Song in any capacity plus 8 shows up in one of the adventures. Definitely one of the best things Big Finish did all year. Ghosts by Jonathan Morris is the final story in the set, bringing the Tenth Doctor and River Song together for one last time on the spooky planet of Demonese 2. Exactly this River I wanted to get to know better, space parties, ancient tombs, feminism, and cosmic freemasonry. That was so good. Is this an unknown , perhaps future incarnation, of the Doctor? By this point in River's timeline, the diary had seen quite a lot of action. There is excitement, clever moments and some fine jokes. A fantastic box set with some really great and fun stories. Doctor Who: The New Series: The Diary of River Song Writer In terms of atmosphere, the last story of the set is the most typical Big Finish Doctor Who story, and it's surprisingly close to a basic Eighth Doctor adventure with River tucked in for good measure. In terms of atmosphere, the last story of the set is the most typical Big Finish Doctor Who story, and it's surprisingly close to a basic Eighth Doctor adventure with River tucked in for good measure. This has not turned me into a raving Big Finish fan, but I am glad I listened to it. In spite of being a lot of fun, this tale hits many potent emotional targets towards the end, courtesy of River Song. Once again this is an enjoyable story and ends the set well. Aug 24, April Mccaffrey rated it really liked it. They never meet in the right order. It does however showcase what a fantastic temporal tactician River Song is. The claustrophobic setting of the tomb and the constant danger River and Bertie are in make for some fast-paced and intense storytelling. Since the diary was written from River's point of view, she didn't let the Doctor read it, teasingly saying "spoilers! I have never been a big fan of books on cd because they mostly put me to sleep. Just had eye surgery. Hosts Gifford and Isabella hold a connection to the mysterious Rulers of the Universe; but with a murderer on board, is River too late to discover the truth? Sep 12, TheSmilingDragon rated it really liked it. Jan 21, Josh rated it really liked it. The Rulers of the Universe: Alex Kingston and Paul McGann are amazing in this story and it's interesting how the adventure initially opens as more of a Doctor-centred story before slowly creeping toward the Doctor and Rover working together. The second two stories were better than the first two. So this one was a bit disappointing. This set also comes with an extra disc of bonus special features. I thoroughly loved it! This was done to make sure she kept track of their meetings to keep their timelines from becoming corrupted. In addition to adventures, River's diary also contained detailed information on alien creatures including handwritten notes, drawings, photographs, cutouts, and the names and events surrounding various people who have encountered these creatures. Doctor Who: The New Series: The Diary of River Song Reviews The relationship between the Doctor and River is at its least effective here, though Tennant and Kingston put in spectacular performances as usual. However, she does not possess a picture of the Twelfth Doctor as she believed his regeneration cycle ended with the Eleventh Doctor. Either way, this is the series that lured me to Big Finish in the first place and I'm pretty sure listening to Alex Kingston and Paul McGann's voices in combination cured my depression and resolved my childhood trauma. This, for once, is a really easy one: if you're a Whovian and you enjoyed River and her story arc on the show, or if you're a fan of Alex Kingstons, Alexander Vlahos or Paul McGanns you should definitely pick it up. The day after her admission to the hospital, River described that the only things she was left with were a bag of clothes with too many short skirts and her diary. I loved the characterisation, Competent, Clever, Funny but less of the cartoon she became in later adventures. Votes: 8, This collection, to me, is of varying levels of enjoyment. River Song, that mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a ballgown, travelling through time and space, was last seen on our screens in the Christmas Special 'The Husbands of River Song'. There is a chance. Disc 2. I prefer when they play up the tragedy of the character and the fact that she spent a good portion of her life as a psychopath. It works well and is to be expected as in the show he meets her during his tenth incarnation. Fifth Doctor, Brooke, Madame Kovarian. When she met the Eighth Doctor 's companion Helen Sinclair , River showed Helen pictures of the Doctor in the diary, to help her identify which Doctor she was travelling with. Oh and we have pre-Time Lord-esque natives hell bent on universal destruction. Big Finish Productions Doctor Who ranges. A lovely series of four adventures in River Songs life. DOCTOR WHO SERIES 10 EPISODE 1 "A Star In Her Eye" By Steven Moffat SHOOTING SCRIPT 16/06/2016 (SHOOTING BLOCK 1) DW10: EP 1 "A Star In Her Eye" by Steven Moffat - SHOOTING SCRIPT - 16/06/16 1 INT. THE DOCTOR’S OFFICE - DAY 1 - 16.00 1 The quietest opening we’ve ever had. We’re in a reasonably untidy office. Dust and books. Obviously academic. A university lecturer’s office. We hold this stationary shot - there’s a pleasing symmetry. There’s a door on the left of the screen, and a slightly open one on the right - like the two doors on a weather clock. Through the slightly open door we can see another, smaller room. In between the doors, there’s a desk, facing across the screen. Two empty chairs. The one in front of the closed door, is a simple, wooden chair. Facing it across the desk is an elegant swivel chair. Distantly, a bell chiming. We hear the chatter of distant voices - young people, chatting and laughing. Under that, the drone of traffic. Ordinary and still, for as long as we dare. Then: Squeak! Squeak! Squeak! It’s like the squeaking wheel on a supermarket trolley - and it’s getting closer. Now the closed door opens, revealing: Nardole. Much as we last saw him in The Husbands Of River Song. He steps into the room (always a squeak on his left leg) revealing: In the doorway, Bill. Young, female, cheeky as hell. Nardole stands clear of the door, gestures towards the wooden chair.

  • Professor River Song Was an Archeologist in Doctor Who, Who First Appeared When David Tennant, the 10Th Doctor Still Traveled with Donna Noble (2008)
Doctor Who “Silence in the Library” “Forest of the Dead” Professor River Song was an archeologist in Doctor Who, who first appeared when David Tennant, the 10th Doctor still traveled with Donna Noble (2008). The true identity of Professor River Song remained a secret until the 11th Doctor's next travel companion Amy Pond found out that in the future, River Song would become the Doctor's wife. A time traveler as well, the ending story of River Song was revealed earlier in 10th Doctor's “Silence in the Libray” and “Forest of the Dead”, the first time the Doctor met her. Quotes from Professor River Song: River: Hello Sweetie. The Doctor: Get out! ==================================== River: They've gone into warp drive. We're losing them. Stay close. The Doctor: I'm trying! River: Use the stabilizers. The Doctor: It (The Tardis) doesn't have stabilizers! River: The blue switches. The Doctor: The blue switches don't do anything! They're just blue. River: Yes, they're blue. They're the blue stabilizers! ==================================== River: Okay, I've mapped the probability vectors, done a full background temporal isometry, charted the ship to its destination and...parked us right alongside. The Doctor: "Parked us"? We haven't landed. River: Of course we've landed. I just landed her. The Doctor: But...it didn't make the noise. River: What noise? The Doctor: You know the [attempts to imitate the noise the TARDIS usually makes when it lands] River: It's not supposed to make that noise. You leave the brakes on. The Doctor: Yeah, well, it's a brilliant noise.

Whoever she really is, this archaeologist and time traveller has had more adventures and got into more trouble than most people in the universe. Single Digital Issue I thought this story was a lot of fun. She's such an elsive character and I love her flirty attitude and that she doesn't see herself short. Doctor Who: A Personal Voyage The second most common question I hear whenever I bring up Doctor Who is “What is Doctor Who?” (the most common one being “Who is Doctor Who?”) It’s really hard to summarize. Too few words and you don’t capture the spirit of it. Too many and you quickly alienate the newcomer. I’ve heard people describe it as “the story of an alien who travels through time and space in a box that’s bigger on the inside.” That’s great. It encapsulates the strangeness inherent in such a series. The only problem is that you shouldn’t just give all of this info to a newcomer right off the bat.
