Doctor Who “Silence in the Library” “Forest of the Dead” Professor River Song was an archeologist in Doctor Who, who first appeared when David Tennant, the 10th Doctor still traveled with Donna Noble (2008). The true identity of Professor River Song remained a secret until the 11th Doctor's next travel companion Amy Pond found out that in the future, River Song would become the Doctor's wife. A time traveler as well, the ending story of River Song was revealed earlier in 10th Doctor's “Silence in the Libray” and “Forest of the Dead”, the first time the Doctor met her. Quotes from Professor River Song: River: Hello Sweetie. The Doctor: Get out! ==================================== River: They've gone into warp drive. We're losing them. Stay close. The Doctor: I'm trying! River: Use the stabilizers. The Doctor: It (The Tardis) doesn't have stabilizers! River: The blue switches. The Doctor: The blue switches don't do anything! They're just blue. River: Yes, they're blue. They're the blue stabilizers! ==================================== River: Okay, I've mapped the probability vectors, done a full background temporal isometry, charted the ship to its destination and...parked us right alongside. The Doctor: "Parked us"? We haven't landed. River: Of course we've landed. I just landed her. The Doctor: But...it didn't make the noise. River: What noise? The Doctor: You know the [attempts to imitate the noise the TARDIS usually makes when it lands] River: It's not supposed to make that noise. You leave the brakes on. The Doctor: Yeah, well, it's a brilliant noise. I love that noise. ==================================== Amy: You're so his wife. River: Oh, Amy, Amy, Amy. This is the Doctor we're talking about. Do you really think it could be anything that simple? Amy: Yep. River: You're good. I'm not saying you're right. But you are, very ...good. 1 Doctor Who “Silence in the Library” “Forest of the Dead” ==================================== Father Octavian [about the Doctor]: Dr. Song, I've lost good clerics today. You trust this man? River: I absolutely trust him. Father Octavian: He's not some kind of madman, then? River: [pause] I absolutely trust him. ==================================== ==================================== The Doctor: River Song, I could bloody kiss you! River: Oh well. Maybe when you're older. ==================================== River: [The Doctor walks in River's tent] Hello, Sweetie. Amy Pond: River. Hi. The Doctor: You graffitied the oldest cliff face in the universe. River: You wouldn't answer your phone! ==================================== The Doctor: Are you married, River? River: Are you asking? The Doctor: Yes. River: Yes. The Doctor: No, hang on. ==================================== 2 Doctor Who “Silence in the Library” “Forest of the Dead” Computer's Notes: Four thousand and twenty-two people saved, no survivors. Doctor's Notes: DOCTOR: Almost every species in the universe has an irrational fear of the dark. But they're wrong, because it's not irrational. It's Vashta Nerada. NASHTA VERADA: These are our forests. We are not kind. DOCTOR: I'm giving you back your forests, but you are giving me them. You are letting them go. NASHTA VERADA: These are our forests. They are our meat. DOCTOR: Don't play games with me. You just killed someone I liked. That is not a safe place to stand. I'm the Doctor, and you're in the biggest library in the universe. Look me up. NASHTA VERADA: You have one day. River Song's Notes: RIVER: Okay, shall we do diaries, then? Where are we this time? Er, going by your face, I'd say it's early days for you, yeah? So, er, crash of the Byzantium. Have we done that yet? Obviously ringing no bells. Right. Oh, picnic at Asgard. Have we done Asgard yet? Obviously not. Blimey, very early days, then. Whoo, life with a time traveller. Never knew it could be such hard work. Look at you. Oh, you're young. DOCTOR: I'm really not, you know. RIVER: No, but you are. Your eyes. You're younger than I've ever seen you. RIVER: Listen, all you need to know is this. I'd trust that man to the end of the universe. And actually, we've been. RIVER: You know when you see a photograph of someone you know, but it's from years before you knew them. and it's like they're not quite finished. They're not done yet. Well, yes, the Doctor's here. He came when I called, just like he always does. But not my Doctor. Now my Doctor, I've seen whole armies turn and run away. And he'd just swagger off back to his Tardis and open the doors with a snap of his fingers. The Doctor in the Tardis. Next stop, everywhere. DOCTOR: Spoilers. Nobody can open a Tardis by snapping their fingers. It doesn't work like that. RIVER: It does for the Doctor. DOCTOR: I am the Doctor. RIVER: Yeah. Some day. RIVER: When you run with the Doctor, it feels like it will never end. But however hard you try, you can't run forever. Everybody knows that everybody dies, and nobody knows it like the Doctor. But I do think that all the skies of all the worlds might just turn dark, if he ever, for one moment, accepts it. RIVER: Some days are special. Some days are so, so blessed. Some days, nobody dies at all. Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair, and the Doctor comes to call, everybody lives. 3.
