When Ron and Melissa walked in, I said, “My gosh look at Ron dressed in a white sport coat and, oh my, a pink carnation!”. I loved that song. We had lots of girls in poodle skirts and saddle shoes and guys wearing jeans and t-shirts with rolled up sleeves. I didn’t recognize Wes Kirchner when he walked in dressed like a nerd with black-rimmed glasses with a band-aid and his hair plastered straight down. Shirley wore pedal pushers, (I called them clam diggers) white shirt with a pink scarf knotted to the side, bobby socks and tennis shoes and black rimmed cat eye glasses. Ann Thompson wore a black poodle skirt and pin-striped Betty Boop shirt, a polka dot scarf and real saddle shoes. She and Wes won CD’s for the best costumes. Jewel won the hula hoop contest. The last 3 standing were Jewell, Donna, and me. I lost count after 100 turns and knew I would not win. A Doo Wop quiz on the tables brought back lots of memories of the 50’s and 60’s. We had a nice crowd and everyone had such a good time. One of our new members, Bill, com- mented that it was the best time he had had in a long time. I could go on but will end this by saying, “Thank you Darlene, you outdid yourself!” 2 3 Jewell won the bubble-gum contest Best Costumes Wes Kirchner & Ann Thompson Special Thanks to Darlene Weaver for planning a great evening for the BBC members and guests.
