MATEC Web of Conferences 229, 03002 (2018) https://doi.org/10.1051/matecconf/201822903002 ICDM 2018 Flash flood in Arau watershed, West Sumatera: a mitigation study Irfan Pramono1,*and Endang Savitri1 1Watershed Management Technology Center, Ministry Of Environment and Forestry, PO Box 295 Surakarta, Indonesia Abstract. Flash flood often occurs in West Sumatera. In spite of heavy rain, flash floods are also caused by the landslide in the riverside that blocks the river as a natural dam. The natural dam can be broken at any time, depending on storage capacity. Flash flood occurs when the dam is broken. The aim of the research is to mitigate flash floods based on parameters influencing flood and landslide. The research was conducted in Arau watershed, West Sumatera. Parameters that have a direct proportion of floods are maximum daily rainfall, watershed shape, river gradient, drainage density, slope, and land cover. Parameters influencing landslides are antecedent soil moisture, slope, geologic type especially fault line, soil depth, and land cover. GIS is used to analyze the factors influencing flood and landslide spatially. The results show that more than 50% of the Arau watershed are slightly high and high vulnerability due to its natural condition. Furthermore, the locations of fault, especially in the riverside, should be noticed because this location could become a natural dam causing flash flood. In order to reduce flash flood impact, the natural dam should be opened as soon as possible. 1 Introduction Java, and West Sumatra. In other countries such as in Tahiti in February 2014, a big flood occurred in this Flash floods are one of the most destructive natural valley.

Advances in Economics, Business and Management Research, volume 97 Third International Conference On Economics Education, Economics, Business and Management, Accounting and Entrepreneurship (PICEEBA 2019) Determinants of Inclusive Growth on the Inequality Muhamad Kanzu Satrio1, Syamsul Amar2, Hasdi Aimon3 1 Universitas Negeri Padang, Padang, Indonesia, (e-mail) [email protected] 2 Universitas Negeri Padang, Padang, Indonesia, (e-mail) [email protected] 3 Universitas Negeri Padang, Padang, Indonesia, (e-mail) [email protected] Abstract This study presents an analysis of inclusive growth inequality during 2011-2016 and the influence of economic growth, health, education and government spending on infrastructure on inclusive growth inequality in West Sumatra province, Indonesia. To empirically analyze the phenomenon of economic growth inclusiveness, the Poverty-Equivalent Growth Rate (PEGR) method is used. With the PEGR method, an Inclusive Growth Index for inequality (IGin) was formed using the Gini index and 60 percent of the lowest population expenditure. The model used is the Random Effects Model panel data regression analysis. From the PEGR method, it was found that in the provincial aggregate, inclusive growth in inequality in West Sumatra still needed to be improved. Throughout the observation period the provincial aggregate only in 2014 experienced inclusive growth in inequality. Health has a positive and significant effect at the five percent significance level, while education has a positive and significant effect at the 10 percent significance level. Government expenditure on infrastructure has a negative and significant effect at the five percent significance level, while economic growth has no statistically significant effect for inclusive growth in inequality in West Sumatra in the 2011-2016 period.

While Indonesia has made great strides in increasing the representation of women in political parties and as elected o"cials, as well as in civil service, ministries, commissions and the judiciary, there is still progress to be made. Experience demonstrates that the low participation of women in politics and government a#ects the quantity and quality of gender responsive public policies that concern both men and women. And while an increase in the numbers of women involved in creating gender responsive policies is crucial, it is also important that the capacity of all policy makers to create these types of regulations is developed.

  • Socio-Economic Status of Fishermen's Household in West Sumatra Province
Advances in Economics, Business and Management Research, volume 64 2nd Padang International Conference on Education, Economics, Business and Accounting (PICEEBA-2 2018) Socio-Economic Status of Fishermen's Household in West Sumatra Province Melti Roza Adry1, Dewi Zaini Putri2 1 Universitas Negeri Padang, Padang, Indonesia, [email protected] 2 Universitas Negeri Padang, Padang, Indonesia, [email protected] Abstract The purpose of this study is to describe the socio economic status of fishermen in West Sumatra Province. To analyze the socioeconomic status of fishermen households is used the data of the agricultural census survey "Fishing Survey of Household Businesses" from Bureau center of statistics in West Sumatra. By using descriptive analysis techniques the results of the study show that (1) most of the fishermen in West Sumatera used outboard motor boats and with a dominant operating period of only 1 day. From the production techniques used by the fisherman, it is more traditional and small-scale with an average crew of less than 5 people who use motorboats, outboard motorboats and motorized boats. And also the fishermen are more dominant in using their own capital for fishing because of the difficulty to access capital in the banks. Furthermore, from the production side, West Sumatra's marine fishery production is sold directly to the market and only few fishermen sell processed fish of the fish they catch. Whereas, in terms of age, most of the fishermen are in the age of 30 - 49 years old who graduated from elementary school. 2). Sea capture fisheries business in West Sumatra is profitable with a value of R / C ratio above 1 whether using motorboats, outboard motorboats and motorized boats to catch fish.
