ABSTRACT With the development of urbanization, more and more people live in cities and enjoy a convenient and comfortable life. But at the same time, it caused many issues such as informal settlement, air pollution and traffic congestions, which are both affecting residents and stressing the environment. To achieve intensive and diverse social activities, the demand for transportation also increased, the proportion of cars travelling is getting higher and higher. However, the trend of relying too much on private cars has caused traffic congestion, lack of parking spaces and other issues, which is against the goal of sustainable development. Transit-oriented development (TOD) aims to integrate the development of land use and transportation, which has been seen as a strategy to address some issues caused by urbanization. -

LOGISTICAL INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS The WMO/WWRP Monsoon Heavy Rainfall Workshop (Beijing, China, 12-14 October 2011) The WMO/WWRP Monsoon Heavy Rainfall Workshop (12-14 October 2011) will be held in Beijing, China at the China Meteorological Organization (CMA). The workshop is organized by the Monsoon Panel of the WMO/CAS Working Group on Tropical Meteorology Research.The host organizations is the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences of CMA. The aim of the Workshop is to present and discuss recent research results on the observation, modelling and prediction of heavy rainfall in the monsoon region and to provide training to heavy rainfall NMHS forecasters in the monsoon region. The oral session will include invited lectures and selected contributed papers. In addition, during the workshop a proposed international field and modelling project on summer monsoon heavy rainfall in southern China will be discussed and evaluated. Participants will have the opportunity to present their research results, operational observations, and/or forecast experience. Monsoon region NMHS staff will also benefit from the training aspect of the workshop. Participants who wish to give a presentation please send the title and a short abstract to Professor C. P. The Symposium will be held in Beijing, China from 22 to24 October 2019. The Symposium will be co- sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) and supported by the Chinese Society of Radiation Protection; the Radiation Monitoring Centre of China General Nuclear Power Corporation and the Beijing Society of Radiation Safety. The Symposium is targeted at all those concerned with radiation protection at nuclear facilities, from utilities, contractors, regulatory bodies as well as international organizations. The main objectives of the Symposium are: to provide a large forum of information exchange on occupational exposure concerns in nuclear power plants (practices, management and procedures, dose results and reduction, improvements of techniques and tools, etc.), to provide an opportunity to transfer the knowledge and experiences on occupational radiation protection accumulated in the ISOE system to newcomers and embarking countries of NPP. -

At present, the new subway station is developing in the direction of a multidimensional space, as well as a large scale, and complex structure. Tunnel construction also presents unpredictability, coupling amplification and high risks. For example, a subway extension project involves construction, which would affect the normal use of the subway or damage its structure. Based on excavation of the largest underground subway station under construction in China, the Erligou station extension project (line 16 of Beijing Metro), and using theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, monitoring data, and other research methods, this paper quantitatively analyzes the risk of a large space station’s construction process on the adjacent existing station structure and track, as well as highlights key, high-risk sub-projects, or construction steps, combined with specific engineering measures to ensure safety during construction of a new station. The general rules concerning large space subway station construction are further summarized to provide reference for similar projects. -

TRANSPORTATION Shuttle Bus arranged by the LOC The LOC will arrange shuttle buses for participants ONLY on August 10, 2011 in Beijing Capital Airport Terminal 3 at the minimum cost. There will be an “ICRC2011” sign just at the exit of international arrivals. Please note that we only have limited capacity, “first come, first serve” is the rule. The shuttle bus starts at 9:30am and ends at 20:00pm. We foresee the shuttle interval will be around 2 hours depending upon number of arrivals.
