2013 ATHLETES’ COMMISSION REPORT ONOC Athletes Commission INTRODUCING THE NEW ONOC ATHLETES COMMISSION FOR 2013 - 2016 MEMBERS: 2013 -2016 - Barbara Kendall (New Zealand) Chair, IOC Member - Carl Probert (Fiji) Vice Chair, PGC Representative - James Tomkins (Australia) IOC Member - Julieanne Westenrupp (Cook Islands) - Alex Davani (PNG) - Tasi Ada (Guam) The new ONOC AC members were nominated by their NOC’s to the ONOC Executive and then were elected to represent our region from 2013 to 2016. James Tompkins automatically becomes a member due to being an IOC member and Carl Probert is our Pacific Games 2 Representative and was elected by his peers at 173 the Games in New Caledonia. Another election for this position will be in 2015 at the games in Papua New Guinea. FIRST ONOC ATHLETES FORUM IN FIJI - APRIL 2013 A very successful 3-day forum was held in Fiji to educate and empower athletes on roles and responsibilities of an athlete’s commission. The forum also covered anti doping education, Stop HIV, Go green and being a leader education. We hope to have these forums every 2 years.
