THE International society of Artur Kapp announces The 6th Singing competition in honour of Mart Saar In Suure-Jaani 17–19 june 2015 Mart Saar (28.09.1882–28.10.1963) – composer, organist, pianist and teacher. Photo: ETMM photo collection Rules and Regulations 1. Any vocalists of any age can take part in the singing competition (except for those who have already been awarded 1st place at a previous competition in honour of Mart Saar). 2. The competition consists of two rounds of performances for the panel of judges and two rounds of performances for the audience. 3. The running order of the competitors will be decided at random upon opening the competition, and it will remain unchanged for the entire duration of the competition. The exact schedule of the performances will be announced after listening to the preliminary round recordings. It will be announced by 1 June 2015 on the website of the Suure-Jaani Music Festival: http://muusikafestival.suure-jaani.ee 4. The songs performed at the competition must adhere to the programme specified in the Appendix after the Rules and Regulations. All songs must be performed without any notes. 5. The winner will be decided by a panel of judges. The panel’s decision is final. 6. Access to the second round will be granted to 50% of the participants. The panel may make exceptions if necessary. 7. Prizes: The panel will announce three prizes, and the best three competitors will also receive a monetary award. The panel has the right to rearrange the prizes, and to issue award certificates and special prizes. 8. The organisers of the competition have the right to make audio and video recordings of the competition. 9. As part of the competition, members of the panel Helen Lepalaan and Jaakko Kortekangas will organise a master class for vocalists (19.06.2015). Those wishing to take part in the master class must indicate such when registering for the competition. 10. The participation fee for the competition is 20 euros. All competitors and their accompanying pianists will be granted free accommodation in Suure-Jaani. Competitors will be expected to cover their own transport expenses relating to the competition. 11. In order to participate in the competition, you must email [email protected] by 15 May 2015 and submit the following: (1) an application stating your wish to participate in the competition; (2) two live recordings of songs fitting the programme of the competition (links)*; (3) a copy of the payment order confirming payment of the participation fee. The application must include the following information: - the competitor’s name, age, contact information and short creative CV; - competition programme (including the first names of the composers and exact song titles); - name of the accompanying pianist - request for accommodation. The participation fee must be paid to the account of the International Society of Artur Kapp (account number: EE641010220023617017; description: “Saare konkurss”). * Audio recordings can also be sent on CD to the address: “Saare konkurss”, Tatari 13, 10143 Tallinn, Estonia. Instead of sending recordings, Estonian singers will have a preliminary round in late May.
