Course content: Program Course: studies have been extensively used in the past decades to elucidate human history and understand present patterns of diversity. The aim of this course is to review the major insights into human genetic history, in the context of our extensive cultural and ecological diversity. Topics will include: history of genetic studies, principles of , methods of analysis, major findings concerning human genetic history, and relationships between genetic and cultural diversity.

* including IEU SEBES seminar series (16:15 – 17:15)

Learning outcomes: By the end of the module the students should be able to:

- Understand basic terminology and analysis methods in human population genetics - Understand the use of genetics in multidisciplinary studies - Interpret genetic studies and draw conclusions from results - Evaluate cases of interaction between biological and cultural diversity in

Prior Knowledge: Basic knowledge of genetic concepts is propaedeutic but not required. Most of the course will be understandable also to participants outside of biological disciplines.

Individual Performance and Assessment: Attendance at lectures and active participation in the seminar sessions are required.
