Project New construction of a service building in Kunduz Camp Kunduz, Afghanistan Performance General planning (structural and architectural planning) Client Staatliches Hochbauamt Heidelberg
The approx. 4.900 m² commercial building for the German troops in northern Afghanistan contains a kitchen, catering and storage areas, also social rooms and walk-in freezers. Special design requirements were necessary because of the geographical position (earthquake region). Also the safety (proximity to enemy fire) had been a great challenge. The turnkey planning includes structural elements and built-in units. For the interior of the building most material had to be transported from Germany which took about 3 - 5 weeks.
Planning and construction time was only 12 months.

Project Reconstruction of the District Court, Berlin-Mitte

For the reconstruction of the building a multitude of different floor and roof constructions needed a static proof. Next to statical calculations various loading tests were made on the historical and wide-span dome-shaped roof. The roof constructions of the 12 building units completely had to be replaced or redeveloped.

Project Reconstruction and new construction of the former planning department into a housing complex with underground car park in Northeim

The former planning department of Northeim has been modified into a modern, senior-oriented housing complex with 12 residential units. The building consists of a redeveloped historical building, a rebuilt central structure and a new construction. The old building is with cellar and below the new construction is the underground car park. For the statical calculation of the old building and the complex roof construction were no actual statics available. The intention was to maintain most of the existing building fabric.

Project Reconstruction of the former “Reichsschuldenverwal- tung“ into an office building of the Senate of Health and Human Services in Berlin – Kreuzberg

Annotation: The building consists of 10 building units. The picture only shows a view of the front face of building unit 3.
For the reconstruction of the building all ceiling constructions had to be investigated on load-bearing capacity. The influence of the World War II and the following redevelopment in the seventies led to several structural systems such as reinforced block floors, ribbed ceilings, coffered ceilings and reinforced concrete ceilings. A lot of the ceiling panels had be renewed for the new requirements. Therefore supporting constructions had to be calculated. In the old building nine new lift shafts were assembled. Significant calculation of supporting constructions had to be made here, too. For the supporting of the bearing walls small supporters were used.

Project Energetic investigations und concrete redevelopment of residential units in Göttingen

The front face of the residential units in the Hauptstraße 80-86 in Göttingen had significant damages of structure. Missing insulation as well as construction and building failings caused moisture problems and mould formations inside. Minor concrete covers in the area of the balcony slab and the balcony parapet, incorrect dewatering and wrongly made floor construction required additional redevelopment measures.

Annotation:
The libary consists of 7 building units. The picture only shows a view of the front face of building unit 1.
Due to change of use (installation of heavy trolley containers for archiving) in several floors the existing floor constructions, disk systems and column constructions had to be investigated on load-bearing capacity. Remediation measures were necessary because of the insufficient load-bearing capacity of the floors. For the different construction stages physical safety measures were proved.

Project Redevelopment of a bearing reinforced concrete construction after an impact of fire in Langelsheim

The reinforced concrete walls and columns were heavily damaged by an impact of fire. The company Exner Technology GmbH decided to rebuild the building by using the remained steel structure. CW was contracted to: • investigate the structure • develop a remedial design • structural analysis for stability
