SL Benfica - Celtic FC DOSSIER DE IMPRENSA Estádio Do Sport Lisboa E Benf, Lisboa Quarta-Feira, 1 De Novembro De 2006 - 20:45CET Grupo F - Jornada 4

Mantorras pulled one back for Benfica, yet the home team's 300th game in UEFA club competition was to be one they would rather forget. • Benfica are now without a permanent coach, with José Antonio Camacho resigning in the wake of a 2-2 draw against Portugal's bottom side, UD Leiria, on Sunday. The 52-year-old former Real Madrid CF left-back said: "I cannot do anything more to improve the team's performances." • In the short term, Camacho has been replaced by Fernando Chalana. The 49-year-old former Portugal and Benfica winger, who also played for FC Girondins de Bordeaux, has been on the club's coaching staff since hanging up his boots in the early 1990s. • This will be Chalana's first game as a coach in UEFA club competition, but he twice faced Spanish sides as a player. -
SL Benfica V Villarreal CF PRESS KIT
SL Benfica v Villarreal CF PRESS KIT A Luz, Lisbon Wednesday, 2 November 2005 - 20:45 CET Group D - Matchday 4 SL Benfica forced a 1-1 draw in the first match with Villarreal CF, and are now looking to utilise home advantage against the UEFA Champions League newcomers, who had never played a Portuguese club before Matchday 3. The Spanish side scored their first goal in the competition in the 18 October meeting, and, after three successive draws, are still searching for their elusive first victory in the competition. Back in big time •Benfica, the 1961 and 1962 European champions, have returned to the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 1998/99. They began with a home 1-0 win against LOSC Lille Métropole, followed by a 2-1 defeat at Manchester United FC and the draw at Villarreal. Spanish first for Benfica •The reigning Portuguese champions played the first European game in their history against a Spanish club. In the 1957/58 European Champion Clubs' Cup preliminary round, Benfica were drawn against Sevilla CF, who won 3-1 in Spain before a 0-0 draw in Portugal. Two final successes •The Lisbon club won both their European Cup finals against Spanish clubs – defeating FC Barcelona 3-2 in 1960/61 and Real Madrid CF 5-3 the following year. The Eagles also have an unbeaten record against Spanish visitors to protect. No defeats at home •In five previous games against Spanish opposition in Lisbon, Benfica have won two matches and drawn on three occasions. •The best performance against a Spanish club was undoubtedly the 5-1 defeat administered to Madrid in the quarter-finals of the 1964/65 European Cup. -

SL Benfica v FC Barcelona MATCH PRESS KIT A Luz, Lisbon Tuesday, 28 March 2006 - 20:45 CET Quarter-finals - Matchday 9 When FC Barcelona won the European Champion Clubs© Cup for the first and only time it was Ronald Koeman©s goal that made it possible. Now the illustrious former defender is in charge of SL Benfica, the next opponents to stand in the way of a second European Cup success for the Catalan side. Historic meeting · The clubs met for the first time in the 1960/61 European Cup final which ended Real Madrid CF©s run of five successive triumphs since the competition began. Benfica returned home from Berne with the trophy after a 3-2 win - they retained it the following year, beating Madrid 5-3 in Amsterdam - and it was they who earlier this month curtailed the reign of the most recent champions, Liverpool FC, in the first knockout round. Story so far · Their 2-0 victory at Anfield on Matchday 8 was secured with goals from Simão and Fabrizio Miccoli and added to the 1-0 home win that came courtesy of Luisão©s late header. · In the quarter-finals, the Portuguese title-holders stage the first game again with the return at Camp Nou on 5 April. Barcelona are seen by many as the most likely to be crowned champions in Paris on 17 May but Benfica will be encouraged by their ability to score goals against a Liverpool team who had previously gone five matches in the competition without conceding. Last meeting · The only other occasion the two sides faced up saw Barça emerge triumphant ± and it proved a happy omen with Koeman going on to win Europe©s most prestigious club prize with a 1-0 victory at Wembley against UC Sampdoria. -

SL Benfica V FC København MATCH PRESS KIT Estádio Do Sport Lisboa E Benf, Lisbon Tuesday, 21 November 2006 - 20:45CET Group F - Matchday 5
SL Benfica v FC København MATCH PRESS KIT Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benf, Lisbon Tuesday, 21 November 2006 - 20:45CET Group F - Matchday 5 After achieving their first wins in Group F on Matchday 4, both SL Benfica and FC København will look forward to their meeting in Lisbon with renewed optimism. Both teams have moved within two points of second-placed Celtic FC, raising their hopes of progression. With Celtic hosting leaders Manchester United FC in the other game, there is even the chance of a win at the Estádio da Luz lifting one of these sides into second place outright. • At the same time, Benfica and København also run the risk of elimination. Defeat for either will end their prospects of reaching the knockout rounds while a draw will do the same to both if Celtic beat United. • Although the pair are tied on four points, Benfica's superior goal difference - minus one to København's minus three - means they are third. Repeat performance • History repeated itself for Benfica on 1 November as they defeated Celtic. Just as in their 1968/69 European Champion Clubs' Cup tie, they responded to a 3-0 loss at Celtic Park with an identical result on home soil. • A tenth-minute own goal from Celtic's Gary Caldwell’s provided the perfect start before Nuno Gomes became the first Benfica player to find the net in this season's competition when he scored in the 22nd minute. Substitute Andrei Karyaka added the third after 76 minutes. • On the same night, København recorded their first UEFA Champions League group stage win, 1-0 against United.
