Methods: A survey about the use of POCUS in HEMS was conducted by a multinational steering expert committee and was carried out from November 30, 2020 to December 30, 2020 via an online web portal. Invitations for participation were sent via email to the medical directors of the European HEMS organizations including two reminders. Results: During the study period, 69 participants from 25 countries and 41 different HEMS providers took part in the survey. -

Shipping made in Hamburg The history of the Hapag-Lloyd AG THE HISTORY OF THE HAPAG-LLOYD AG Historical Context By the middle of the 19th Century the industrial revolution has caused the disap- pearance of many crafts in Europe, fewer and fewer workers are now required. In a first process of globalization transport links are developing at great speed. For the first time, railways are enabling even ordinary citizens to move their place of residen- ce, while the first steamships are being tested in overseas trades. A great wave of emigration to the United States is just starting. “Speak up! Why are you moving away?” asks the poet Ferdinand Freiligrath in the ballad “The emigrants” that became something of a hymn for a German national mo- vement. The answer is simple: Because they can no longer stand life at home. Until 1918, stress and political repression cause millions of Europeans, among them many Germans, especially, to make off for the New World to look for new opportunities, a new life. Germany is splintered into backward princedoms under absolute rule. Mass poverty prevails and the lower orders are emigrating in swarms. That suits the rulers only too well, since a ticket to America produces a solution to all social problems. Any troublemaker can be sent across the big pond. The residents of entire almshouses are collectively despatched on voyage. New York is soon complaining about hordes of German beggars. The dangers of emigration are just as unlimited as the hoped-for opportunities in the USA. Most of the emigrants are literally without any experience, have never left their place of birth, and before the paradise they dream of, comes a hell. -

Gemeinsame Pressemitteilung Regensburg, 11.06.2021 Blut- und Plasmaspenden retten Leben Seit dem 1. März 2021 startet der Regensburger Hubschrauber der DRF Luftrettung von seinem Standort am Universitätsklinikum Regensburg (UKR) mit Blut- und Plasmakonserven an Bord zu seinen Einsätzen. Eine Neuerung, die sich bereits jetzt nach etwas mehr als drei Monaten bezahlt gemacht hat, wie Anästhesistin und Notärztin Dr. Katrin Judemann, Leitende Hubschrauberärztin auf „Christoph Regensburg“, zum Weltblutspendetag am 14. Juni 2021 berichtet. Eine Landstraße, nasse Fahrbahn, kurvig, Motorradunfall. „Christoph Regensburg“ wird alarmiert. „Rettungseinsätze mit verunfallten Motorradfahrern sind immer sehr speziell. Die Verletzungen sind häufig sehr schwer, weil der menschliche Körper ja keine Knautschzone besitzt“, erklärt die leitende Hubschrauberärztin Dr. Katrin Judemann. „Wir rechnen in diesen Fällen eher mit dem Schlimmsten. Verletzungen an der Wirbelsäule oder offene Verletzungen mit hohem Blutverlust gehören hier leider zum Alltag. Daher bin ich sehr froh, dass wir seit März immer mit Blut- und Plasmapräparaten zu unseren Flugeinsätzen starten“, so die Oberärztin der Klinik für Anästhesiologie des UKR weiter. Möglich hat dies eine Kooperation zwischen dem Universitätsklinikum Regensburg und der DRF Luftrettung gemacht. Die Besatzung von „Christoph Regensburg” hat seitdem eine neue und lebensrettende Möglichkeit zur Hand: Sie kann Patienten, deren Leben durch einen schweren Blutverlust in Gefahr ist, Blut- und Blutplasma verabreichen. Gerade wenn der Weg in eine geeignete Klinik weit ist, kann dies die entscheidenden Minuten für das Überleben bringen. Der Faktor Zeit spielt in der Notfallmedizin eine zentrale Rolle und entscheidet in besonders kritischen Fällen über Leben und Tod. Wie wichtig die schnelle Bereitstellung von Blut oder Blutplasma im Notfall ist, wird insbesondere in ländlich geprägten Regionen deutlich, da der Transport in die nächste Klinik länger dauern kann.
