Self-service check-in speeds up Easter departures

Check-in
and
security
inspections
might
be
very
busy
at
Finnish
airports
during
the
Easter
period.
Airport
procedures
can
be
accelerated,
however,
by
performing
check-in
in
advance.

We
recommend
that
passengers
use
Finnair's
internet
or
text
message
check-in
services
or
the
self-service
check-in
kiosks
at
the
airport.
This
can
speeds
things
up
significantly,
says
Finnair's
Markku
Remes,
who
is
responsible
for
passenger
experience
development.
When
check-in
is
done
in
advance,
baggage
can
be
left
in
Helsinki-Vantaa
Airport
at
a
Baggage
Drop
desk
within
the
framework
of
minimum
check-in
times.


Check-in
can
be
done
on
the
internet
on
the
day
before
the
flight
for
all
Finnair
and
Finncomm
Airlines
scheduled
flights
at
the
address
www.finnair.fi.
Exceptions
are
flights
from
Bergen,
Geneva,
Ekaterinburg,
Kiev,
Ljubljana,
Moscow
and
St.
Petersburg,
where
passengers
should
check
in
at
the
airport.


Finnair
Plus
members
can
confirm
a
check-in
proposal
sent
to
them
by
text
message
for
Finnair
and
Finncomm
Airlines
domestic
and
international
scheduled
flights,
when
the
departure
is
from
Finland,
Amsterdam,
Brussels,
Gothenburg,
Copenhagen,
London,
Madrid,
Manchester,
Oslo,
Paris,
Prague,
Riga,
Stockholm,
Warsaw
or
Vilnius.
This
service
can
be
activated
on
the
internet
or
by
contacting
the
Finnair
Plus
service
centre.
The
message
is
sent
for
morning
flights
between
5
p.m.
and
7
p.m.
on
the
evening
before
and
for
flights
departing
in
the
afternoon
around
three
hours
before
the
flight
departure.


For
Finnair
and
Finncomm
Airlines
domestic
and
international
flights
departing
from
Helsinki,
check-in
can
be
performed
using
the
automatic
kiosks
in
Helsinki-Vantaa's
Terminal
2.
The
check-in
kiosks
can
also
be
used
when
passengers
are
taking
with
them
skis,
backpacks
or
other
baggage
that
goes
into
the
hold.
Check-in
kiosks,
moreover,
can
be
used
for
Finnair
and
Finncomm
Airlines
scheduled
flights
departing
from
Amsterdam,
Brussels,
Frankfurt,
Geneva,
Hong
Kong,
Copenhagen,
London,
Manchester,
Munich,
Beijing,
Prague,
Tallinn,
Stockholm,
Warsaw,
Vienna
and
Zürich
as
well
as
for
the
connecting
flights
of
Finnair,
Finncomm
Airlines
and
other
companies.


Check-in
for
morning
scheduled
flights
can
usually
be
handled
in
advance
at
Helsinki-Vantaa
Airport
between
8
p.m.
and
9.30
p.m.
on
the
evening
preceding
the
flight.
One
member
of
the
family
can
then
bring
the
baggage
of
the
whole
family,
provided
he
or
she
also
presents
all
of
the
flight
tickets
plus
his
or
her
own
travel
documents,
such
as
a
passport.


The
permitted
baggage
allowance
for
domestic
flights
is
20
kg.
A
ski
bag,
which
may
contain
one
pair
of
skis
and
poles
or
a
snowboard
as
well
as
ski
boots
or
snowboard
boots,
is
carried
free
of
charge,
if
it
is
included
in
the
20
kg.
A
20
euro
fee
is
charged
for
a
ski
bag
on
domestic
and
shorter
European
flights
-
30
euros
on
longer
flights
-
if
the
permitted
20
kg
baggage
allowance
is
exceeded.
The
amount
of
baggage
allowed
on
international
scheduled
flights
is
20
kg
for
economy
class
and
30
kg
for
business
class
passengers.
Groups
of
more
than
10
people
should
notify
Finnair
about
their
ski
equipment
in
advance.


It
is
always
worth
giving
a
mobile
phone
number
when
making
a
Finnair
flight
booking,
so
that
Finnair
can
automatically
send
information
about
possible
traffic
disruptions
or
baggage
delays.


Passengers
are
recommended
to
come
to
the
airport
in
plenty
of
time,
particularly
during
busy
holiday
periods.


Check-in
must
be
made
at
the
latest
45
minutes
before
a
flight
departure
to
a
domestic
ski
centre
when
passengers
bring
winter
sports
equipment
along
with
them.
