Baptism of Desire, Blood, and Water (The Threefold Baptism) Last updated: July 2015 Introduction The Sacrament of Baptism, which was instituted by Our Lord Jesus Christ, imprints a "character" on the soul, admitting the recipient to membership in the Catholic Church. The matter of Baptism is natural water poured over the head of the person to be baptized. Throughout the history of the Catholic Church it has been unanimously taught that both Baptism of Desire and Baptism of Blood, while not Sacraments in themselves, can supply the grace of the Sacrament, when Baptism of Water becomes a physical or moral impossibility. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, a Jesuit priest named Father Leonard Feeney was known to publicly oppose the doctrine on the threefold Baptism, where he accepted only water Baptism. His doctrinal position came to be known as Feeneyism, and those supporting his position came to be known as Feeneyites. Since Father Feeney passed away in 1978, Feeneyism has become an epidemic among Catholics today. The main reason this epidemic exists is because Catholics do not understand the concept of the Magisterium of the Church. This website was created to set the record straight, showing that Baptism of Desire, Baptism of Blood, and Baptism of Water (the three-fold Baptism) is a Catholic doctrine taught since the earliest days of the Catholic Church. Read below for an explanation of why Catholics MUST believe this doctrine. Volume Terzo: dal 1878 al 1978 Appunti per una storia del Papato scritti da un internauta per internauti del XXI secolo. Alle mie lettrici Ai miei lettori 2 CAPITOLO 36 DAL 1878 AL 1903 Uno dei pochi Papi non beatificati o canonizzati, dal 1846 ad oggi, è invece uno dei più importanti, sia per la lunghezza del Pontificato (più di 25 anni) sia per le problematiche religiose, sociali e politiche affrontate. Praticamente tutte quelle che emergono nelle società moderne. Inoltre tanto di lui ancora c’è nelle vene della Chiesa d’oggi, perché molti cattolici, compreso chi scrive, hanno avuto docenti o semplicemente degli anziani in famiglia che li hanno istruiti sulla Fede, essendo nati ai tempi di Papa Pecci. È anche il primo Papa filmato e registrato della storia e ancora oggi possiamo, per qualche secondo, vederlo benedire nei Giardini Vaticani (simile per età, magrezza, difficoltà di deambulazione e vestiario all’attuale Papa Emerito) o ascoltare la sua voce profonda pregare l’Ave Maria pochi mesi prima di morire. A livello di rispetto della Tradizione nulla cambia rispetto a Pio IX: la differenza è che Leone XIII, uomo di vasta cultura, grande latinista e tomista, ma soprattutto uomo dalla Fede rocciosa e semplice insieme, era interessato a tutto ciò che il mondo moderno stava vivendo, come pure a tutto ciò che si stava muovendo a livello ecclesiale, specie nella base. Egli essenzialmente cerca di dare una risposta cattolica, in alternativa alle altre proposte ideologiche e politiche, che teme possano traviare la mente e i cuori dei fedeli a lui affidati. -

(162/06) San Gioacchino in Prati San Gioacchino in Prati is a late 19th century parish and titular church in the rione Prati. The main entrance is on Via Pompeio Magno just to the east. The Lepanto metro station is close by. Despite its high prestige ("chiesa pontificia") and magnificent architecture, this is not a minor basilica. The dedication is to St Joachim, the father of the Blessed Virgin Mary. History Until the later 19th century, the rione Prati was mostly meadows, but after the annexation of Rome by Italy in 1870 it was quickly developed into a closely-packed suburb. To provide for this three parish churches were to be built, which were San Gioacchino, Santa Maria del Rosario in Prati and Sacro Cuore del Suffragio. The original impetus for building San Gioacchino came from a French priest of Lyons named Antoine Brugidou. He wished to found an international pious sodality for the purpose of reparative adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, in order to make amends for acts of profanation in France and other countries during the French Revolution and afterwards. This Opera Internazionale dell'Adorazione Riparatrice was to have its headquarters in Rome at a new church in Prati, paid for by the faithful of various countries. The church was to be dedicated to St Joachim, in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of the ordination to the priesthood of Pope Leo XIII in 1887. Abbé Brugidou wrote a book about his proposed institute in that year, and in 1890 obtained permission to begin the building project. The pope imposed a maximum limit for the amount of money to be spent, and requested that the church be finished in 1893. -

Samuel Milton Jones, Toledo Mayor 1897‐1904, was born on 1846 August 3, 1846, at Tŷ‐mawr near Beddgelert in Caernarvonshire, Wales. At 18, Jones made his way to Titusville, Pennsylvania to find work in theoil industry of Western Pennsylvania. Inially unsuccessful he returned to New York found employment, and managed to save a modest sum of money over the next three years. Jones returned to Pennsylvania where he began to speculavely invest his small nest egg in oil leases, from which he began to accumulate wealth. Jones mar‐ ried and had children spending the next 15 years in the Pennsylvania oil industry. Following the death of his wife, Jones and his two surviving children le Pennsylvania for the oil fields of Ohio in 1886. He helped established the Ohio Oil Company, a firm which was later bought by Standard Oil Company, making Jones a wealthy man. In 1892, Jones moved to Toledo, Ohio. Then the Panic of 1893 erupt‐ ed, causing a depression forcing millions into the grips of poverty. With considera‐ ble wealth Jones was not himself personally affected however, an esmated 7,000 people in Lucas County were rendered indigent and forced Toledo millions of dollars in debt. Jones seems to have been emoonally affected by the economic collapse. Jones turned his talents to mechanical invenon, obtaining a patent in 1894 for a new variety of iron pumping rod for deep well drilling. He opened a manufacturing plant (the Acme Sucker Rod Company in Toledo that same year. He became the employer of wage labor in a factory seng. -

Sembra un’affermazione ovvia, incontrovertibile, scontata. Roma è la città sede del papato, culla del cristianesimo sin dai primi secoli, meta di pellegrinaggi di fedeli provenienti da tutti i luoghi del mondo. Storicizzando tale affermazione nel corso del Novecento se ne riscontrano espressioni ampiamente condivise come quelle delle processioni cittadine nel corso del ventennio fascista, dell’opposizione silenziosa al regime d’occupazione tedesca nell’inverno 43-44, delle manifestazioni di massa del secondo dopoguerra, sino all’accoglienza festosa dei partecipanti alle assemblee conciliari del Vaticano II. Eppure Roma all’inizio del secolo non era poi così cattolica, almeno in quanto alla libera manifestazione della fede cristiana, alla ‘visibilità’ di una pratica religiosa pur esistente ma ricondotta nel privato e nel chiuso degli edifici sacri. La conquista italiana del 1870 e la successiva reazione di chiusura da parte del Vaticano, avevano provocato a lungo andare un certo isolamento delle istanze cattoliche all’interno della città. “Con il 20 settembre 1870 - afferma Andrea Riccardi –, nasce un’altra Roma rispetto alla città dei papi”1. Con ciò non s’intende che la popolazione perda di colpo la sua tradizionale fede cristiana. “Roma – conviene Giacomo Martina - in sostanza va assumendo la fisionomia di una città non meno religiosa di prima, ma certamente meno clericale, più laica”2. La scelta separatista nei rapporti tra Stato e Chiesa, infatti, comporta una certa distanza tra le ‘due Rome’. -
