TERMINAL B PARKING GARAGE CONCOURSE A Completed: February 2018 CONCOURSE B CONCOURSE D CONCOURSE E TERMINAL B HEADHOUSE CENTRAL HALL CONCOURSE F The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, along with LaGuardia Gateway Partners and Delta Air Lines, has embarked on a major modernization and TERMINAL C HEADHOUSE redevelopment program to position LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to meet the needs of the 21st Century. In January 2015, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo established an TERMINAL C Airport Advisory Panel that published a report in July PARKING GARAGE CONCOURSE G 2015 titled “A 21st Century Airport for the State of Completed: August 2015 New York: The New LaGuardia - Guiding Principles for a Comprehensive Airport Master Plan.” The current redevelopment implements the Advisory Panel’s vision with a comprehensive and implementable plan for the future of the airport which will include new state-of- the-art Terminals B and C, Parking Garages, electrical substations, new roadway and utility networks, and a new AirTrain connection to Willets Point. Life & Times of Dinner Key Gateway to the Americas: The story of modern Miami is intertwined with visions of the city's potential as a link to places far away. Once upon a time, Miami itself was a place far away. One wag said: "If you own both Miami and Hell, live in Hell, and rent out Miami." But not everyone was as inclined to dismiss the place. Industrialist Henry Flagler, a Standard Oil partner of John D. Rockefeller's, saw potential in Aviation Cadets at Dinner Key (Courtesy: History Miami) connecting Southern Florida with points north, south, and east. He pushed his Florida East Coast Railroad down the Florida peninsula just before the turn of the 20th century. The first train entered Miami on April 13, 1896 - the tangible beginning of transportation links that would fuel Miami's future. Fifteen years after the first train, Miami saw its first plane - a Wright Brothers' exposition flight in 1911. The next year, aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss opened a flying school. Miami was an excellent location for aviation - plenty of nice weather, and not a mountain in sight. With the coming of World War I, a sandy bit of dry land in Biscayne Bay known as Dinner Key became a focal point for naval aviation. Miamians regarded the small island - or key in the local parlance - as a nice place for a picnic, hence the name. The US Navy thought it would be a great place for a Naval Air Station. With some dredging and engineering, the island was converted to a peninsula, with room for hangars, shops, barracks and other accouterments necessary to the job of training aviators and mechanics.

Landmarks Preservation Commission November 25, 1980, Designation List 138 LP-1110 MARINE AIR TERMINAL INTERIOR, main floor interior consisting of the en trance vestibule, the hallway connecting the entrance vestibule to the circular main space, the stairways leading from the main floor to the second floor, the circular main space to the depth of the opening reveals, and the fixtures and interior components of these spaces, including but not limited to, wall, ceiling, and floor surfaces, doors and transoms, aluminum letter signs, attached clock, skylight, and staircase railings; LaGuardia Airport, Queens. Landmark Site: Tax Map Block 926, Lot 1 in part consisting of the land on which the described building is situated. On December 11, 1979, the Landmarks Preservation Commission held a public hearing on the proposed designation as a Landmark of the Marine Air Terminal Interior and the proposed designation of the related Landmark Site (Item No. 16). The hearing had been duly advertised in accordance with the provisions of law. Three witnesses spoke in favor of designation. There were no speakers in opposition to designation. Letters have been received in support of designation. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey made note of its superior jurisdiction. DESCRIPTION A1~ ANALYSIS Hardly more than a decade after Charles Lindbergh's historic 1927 solo flight from New York to Paris, the world's first transatlantic passenger flights were regularly departing from La Guardia Airport's Marine Air Terminal. Designed in the Art Deco style, the Terminal is "modern", serving as an ap propriate introduction to air travel, which struck the general public in the 1930s as both glamorous and adventurous.
