The program is funded in partnership by the Government of Canada ($50 million), the Government of Alberta ($27.7 million), the Calgary Airport Authority ($20 million, plus half the land costs) and the City ($20.65 million, plus half the land costs). The $153.35 million program includes the following projects: 1. Extension of tender-ready Airport Trail NE, from 36 Street to 60 Street NE (under Construction); 2. Construction of ring road access at Stoney Trail NE (southbound Stoney to westbound Airport Trail NE (in Preliminary Design); and 3. Construction of two grade – separated bridge structures and associated ramps at 19 Street NE and Barlow Trail NE, crossing over Airport Trail NE. ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd. (ATCO), by Application 24005-A001 registered on October 26, 2018, filed an application with the Alberta Utilities Commission under Section 11 of the Pipeline Act and Section 4.1 of the Gas Utilities Act for the following in the city of Calgary: • abandonment of lines 7, 9 and 17 • length amendments of lines 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 16, 17 and 18 • mapping amendments of lines 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 16, 17 and 18 2. The completed work is related to the abandonment of the existing pipeline, within the original right-of-way, previously constructed and operated in accordance with approvals granted in Licence 19521. 3. ATCO stated that it completed the pipeline installations, removals and abandonments of sections of the 406.4-millimetre Priddis Transmission Pipeline required to accommodate the construction of the southwest Calgary ring road between the Highway 22X interchange and Macleod Trail as per approval received in Decision 23276-D02-2018.1 ATCO explained that segments of the existing pipeline were abandoned beneath existing roadways where removal was not feasible. In addition, abandonment lengths at Highway 22X were longer than originally planned, due to the road build-up, resulting in increased distance between ditches, with the pipeline being removed as close to the road ditch as possible.
