Peter Schäfer, Telgte Einleitung Die Erforschung der Wanzenfauna Nordrhein-Westfalens hat in den letzten Jahren einen starken Auftrieb erhalten, nicht zuletzt durch die Aktivitäten der neu gegründeten Arbeitsgruppe "Wanzen in NRW" (HOFFMANN & SCHÄFER 2006). Haben Kon & HoFFMANN (2003) noch 567 Arten gemeldet, so sind es in der aktuellen Checkliste von HoFMANNet al. (2011) bereits 608 Arten. Auch wenn in diesem nach ScHÄFER (2009) zweiten Beitrag des Autors zur regionalen Ökofaunistik von Wanzen keine Neufunde dabei sind, so liegen von den aufgeführten Arten doch bisher nur einzelne oder wenige publizierte Nachweise vor oder ihre Meldung ist aus anderen Gründen mitteilungs- würdig. Ausgewertet wurden verschiedene Sammlungen sowie an den Autor herangetragene Funde und eigene Aufsammlungen. Die Nomenklatur richtet sich nach dem ,Catalogue of the Heteroptera of the Palaearctic Region' (AUKEMA et al. 2013; AUKEMA & RIEGER 1996, 2001 ). Stein) 127 Ergebnisse und Diskussion Tingidae (Gitterwanzen) Tingis crispata (Herrich-Schaeffer, 1838) Die Gitterwanze Tingis crispata stellte für Nordrhein-Westfalen noch vor wenigen Jahren eine Rarität dar. Nach dem Erstfund Anfang der 1990er Jahre im Siebengebirge {GEILING & Düx 1993) gelangen weitere Nachweise erst wieder in den Jahren 2000 (Hagen; DREES 2009), 2006 (Truppen- übungsplatz Haltern-Borkenberge; ScHÄFER & HANNIG 2009) und 2010 (Dar- magen, NSG Hannepützheide; HOFFMANN 2011 ). -

The data we present are part of the long-term project SLAM (Long Term Ecological Study of the Impacts of Climate Change in the natural forest of Azores) that started in 2012, aiming to understand the impact of biodiversity erosion drivers on Azorean native forests (Azores, Macaronesia, Portugal). In this contribution, the design of the project, its objectives and the first available data for the spider fauna of two Islands (Pico and Terceira) are described. -

Washington, DC 20402-9328 ISBN O-1 6-042075-X Foreword on-indigenous species (NIS)-----those species found beyond their natural ranges—are part and parcel of the U.S. landscape. Many are highly beneficial. Almost all U.S. crops and domesticated animals, many sport fish and aquiculture species, numerous horticultural plants, and most biologicalN control organisms have origins outside the country. A large number of NIS, however, cause significant economic, environmental, and health damage. These harmful species are the focus of this study. The total number of harmful NIS and their cumulative impacts are creating a growing burden for the country. We cannot completely stop the tide of new harmful introductions. Perfect screening, detection, and control are technically impossible and will remain so for the foreseeable future. Nevertheless, the Federal and State policies designed to protect us from the worst species are not safeguarding our national interests in important areas. These conclusions have a number of policy implications. First, the Nation has no real national policy on harmful introductions; the current system is piecemeal, lacking adequate rigor and comprehensiveness. Second, many Federal and State statutes, regulations, and programs are not keeping pace with new and spreading non-indigenous pests. -

This work aims to characterize the arthropods and other biota (lichens, bryophytes, vascular plants and birds) associated with the Azorean endemic tree, Juniperus brevifolia. This is the first of a series of publications that will (i) provide a comprehensive list of all the biota associated with the main Azorean endemic trees and shrubs, (ii) describe in detail the diver- sity, abundance and spatial patterns of canopy arthropods, and (iii) whenever possible, to extend biodiversity assessments to communities of bryophytes, lichens, vascular plants and vertebrates. We use standardized sampled data from BALA project for canopy arthropods and for the remaining taxa we surveyed literature data and the Herbarium of University of Azores. Juniperus brevifolia occurs in a wide range of elevation belts in Azores and accommodates a remarkable large number of taxa: besides canopy arthropods (161 species) it is also an important substrate to other vascular species (six species), bryophytes (105 spe- cies), lichens (106 species) and also birds (four species). In addition, the species richness and particularly the abundance of endemics are dominant, and the number of conservation concern species for bryophytes is noteworthy (30 out of 70). -

I-46045 Marmirolo (MN), Italy. 2 Author for correspondence: [email protected] ABSTRACT — Predation of a larva of Lissotriton italicus by adults of a diving beetle (Agabus bipustulatus) on the Aurunci Mountains (central Italy, Latium region) is recorded. This is the first identified invertebrate predator of this Italian endemic newt. The possible role of this beetle in the local demographic control of the newt is briefly discussed. HE Italian Newt, Lissotriton italicus (Peracca), (Latina province, Castelforte, Monte Siola W-SW Tpreviously referred to the genus Triturus slope, 240 m a.s.l). The knowledge of dispersal evolution, motivation, its effect on metapopulation dynamics and species distribution at multiple scales is poorly understood and many questions remain unsolved or require empirical verification. In this thesis we contribute to the knowledge of dispersal, by studying both ecological and evolutionary aspects of spider dispersal in fragmented grey dunes. Studies were performed at the individual, population and assemblage level and indicate that behavioural traits narrowly linked to dispersal, con- siderably show [adaptive] variation in function of habitat quality and geometry. Dispersal also determines spider distribution patterns and metapopulation dynamics. The investigated farms were placed in three different geographical regions with different environmental conditions (agricultural lowland environment, regularly flooded area and woodland area of medium height mountains). During the survey, a total number of 6,706 individuals belonging to 247 species were collected with pitfall traps. The most common species were: Dinaraea angustula, Omalium caesum, Drusilla canaliculata, Oxypoda abdominale, Philonthus nitidulus, Dexiogya corticina, Xantholinus linearis, X. lon- giventris, Aleochara bipustulata, Mocyta orbata, Oligota pumilio, Platydracus stercorarius, Olophrum assimile, Tachyporus hypnorum, T. nitidulus and Ocypus olens. The most characteristic species in conventionally treated orchards with sandy soil were: Philonthuss nitidulus, Tachyporus hypnorum, and Mocyta orbata, while species to be found in the same regions, but frequent in abandoned orchards as well were: Omalium caesum, Oxypoda abdominale, Xantholinus linearis and Drusilla canaliculata.ThespeciesDinaraea angustula, Oligota pumilio, Dexiogya corticina, Xantholinus longiventris, Tachyporus nitidulus and Ocypus olens have a different level of preferences towards the conventionally treated orchards in clay soil. -

The Jumping Plant-Lice (Hemiptera: Psylloidea) of the Maltese Islands

Twenty-one species of jumping plant-lice accommodated in five different families are here recorded from the Maltese Islands in an annotated checklist. The Aphalaridae is represented by four species (Agonoscena targionii (Lichtenstein), Blastopsylla occidentalis Taylor, Colposcenia aliena (Löw) and Glycaspis brimblecombei Moore), of which two (B. occidentalis and G. brimblecombei) are alien species originating from Australia. The Homotomidae is represented by Homotoma ficus (Linnaeus) and Macrohomotoma gladiata Kuwayama, the latter being an alien species originating from the Far East. The Liviidae is represented by Euphyllura olivina (Costa), Diaphorina lycii Loginova and Psyllopsis fraxinicola (Foerster). The Psyllidae is represented by Acizzia uncatoides (Ferris & Klyver), Cacopsylla myrthi (Puton) and C. pyri (Linnaeus), of which Acizzia uncatoides is an alien species originating from Australia. Finally, the most species-rich family is the Triozidae, represented by nine species (Bactericera albiventris (Foerster), B. crithmi (Löw), B. trigonica Hodkinson, Heterotrioza chenopodii (Reuter), Lauritrioza alacris (Flor), Trioza centranthi (Vallot), T. galii Foerster, T. kiefferi Giard and T. urticae (Linnaeus)). For each of the above species, collection data, distribution, host- plant data and other relevant information is provided. Lycium intricatum Boiss. is a new host-plant record for Diaphorina lycii, and Rhamnus lycioides subsp. oleoides (L.) Jahand. & Maire is a new host-plant record for Cacopsylla myrthi. A host- plant shift is documented for Bactericera crithmi, which alternates between Ferula melitensis Brullo et al. in winter and Crithmum maritimum L.
