What Is Neo-Liberalism? Justifications of Deregulating Financial Markets in Norway and Finland © SIFO 2015 Project Note No 6 – 2015

Prosjektrapport nr.6 - 2015 Tittel Antall sider Dato 48 27.10.2015 Title ISBN ISSN What is Neo-liberalism? Justifications of deregulating financial markets in Norway and Finland Forfatter(e) Prosjektnummer Faglig ansvarlig sign. Summary The report documents that the deregulation of the Norwegian and Finnish economy primarily was about politics and political processes, and to a much lesser extent about justifications rooted in economic theory. Nor neoliberal philosophy as we know it from the US and Britain played a major role in the two countries. Instead, it was about the notion, and the emergence of, a new kind of welfare state in need of a moral legitimization of autonomy. -

Taxonomy of Minority Governments LISA LA FORNARA INTRODUCTION A minority government in its most basic form is a government in which the party holding the most parliamentary seats still has fewer than half the seats in parliament and therefore cannot pass legislation or advance policy without support from unaffiliated parties.1 Because seats in minority parliaments are more evenly distributed amongst multiple parties, opposition parties have greater opportunity to block legislation. A minority government must therefore negotiate with external parties and adjust its policies to garner the majority of votes required to advance its initiatives.2 This paper serves as a taxonomy of minority governments in recent history and proceeds in three parts. -

After 16 spectacular days with tremendous spectator attendance, wonderful winter weather and a successful formal and informal cultural programme, we believe that we achieved our goals. The celebrations in which all of Norway and large parts of the world participated exceeded all expectations. We are proud that winterland Norway was able to present itself at its best – through our athletes and the tremendous enthusiasm of tens of thousands of cheering spectators. The international press covered the activities in Lillehammer more than any previous Olympics, and thousands of letters have come from television viewers all around the world thanking LOOC and the Norwegian people for a unique experience. A heartfelt appreciation to all the spectators, theIOC , the LOOC employees and the entire Olympic Family for their genuine support. -

NORWAY Dates of Elections: 13 and 14 September 1981 Purpose of Elections Elections Were Held for All the Seats in Parliament On
NORWAY Dates of Elections: 13 and 14 September 1981 Purpose of Elections Elections were held for all the seats in Parliament on the normal expiry of the term of members. The previous general elections took place on 11 and 12 September 1977. Characteristics of Parliament The Parliament of Norway, the Stoning, consists of 155 members elected for 4 years. The Storting is in reality a unicameral system, but when dealing with legislation, it divides in two parts. The first division is called the Lagting (acting as Upper Chamber) and the second division is called the Odelsting (acting as Lower Chamber). Under the terms of the Constitution, the Storting nominates one-fourth of its members (39) to constitute the Lagting. The remaining three-fourths (116) constitute the Odelsting. This nomination takes place at the first assembly of the Storting following a general parliamentary election. Electoral System Norwegian citizens of either sex and over the age of 18 years* on polling day are entitled to vote, provided they have resided in Norway during the previous 10 years. The right to vote is lost in the case of any person who is sentenced for criminal offences, enters the service of a foreign power without the consent of the Government, is found guilty of electoral fraud or is declared incapable of managing his or her own affairs. The electoral registers are revised every four years. Voting is not compulsory. Every qualified elector is eligible for the Storting, with the exception of Ministers and officials of the Ministries, the Royal Court and consular or diplomatic services, whose posts are deemed incompatible with the parliamentary mandate. -

By Egil Bjørnsen A thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Cultural Policy Studies University of Warwick, Centre for Cultural Policy Studies October 2009 For Michelle Acknowledgments I am grateful to many people who have made it possible for me to complete this journey and finalise this thesis. First, Oliver Bennett who back in 2002 agreed to take me on as his student and whose supervision has been firm, constructive and very useful. Several other people have also read my work and given feedback. Firstly, several of my student colleagues at the Centre for Cultural Policy Studies, including Anna Upchurch, Eleonora Belfiore, Hsiao-Ling Chung, Boyun Choe, Lorraine Lim and Paul Kohler. A special thanks to Kjell Magne Mælen, who has read several of my chapters and with whom I have had many constructive conversations. Kjell is a very generous person who also assisted me in identifying suitable interview subjects for my field research, and also acted as a subject for the pilot testing of my interview guide. -
Det Norske Sosialdemokratiet - Levende Eller Ideologisk Dødt?
Det norske Sosialdemokratiet - levende eller ideologisk dødt? Brede Møller http://www.duo.uio.no/ Trykk: Reprosentralen, Universitetet i Oslo III Sammendrag Er Arbeiderpartiet i realiteten sosialdemokratisk?
