The bagworm moth T. melana is confirmed for the first time for Slovenia. in addition to T. ciliaris (ochsenheimer, 1810), this is now second species of the genus Typhonia , occuring in Slovenia. keY wordS : Psychidae, Typhonia melana , fauna, Slovenia T. melana je bila prvotno opisana kot ločena vrsta Euprepia melana Frivaldszky, 1837 , toda taksonomskega statusa vrste starejši raziskovalci niso upoštevali in so jo večinoma smatrali za podvrsto ali aberacijo k splošno poznani T. ciliaris (= Melasina lugubris ). dolgoletno zmedo v entomološki literaturi so uredili šele v novejšem času, ko so T. melana vzpostavili najprej kot podvrsto T. ciliaris (Hättenschwiler, 2000, Sobczyk, 2011), nato pa kot samostojno vrsto (Arnscheid in weidlich, 2017, bertaccini in Zilli, 2017). Zaradi nove taksonomske kategorizacije je T. melana tako nov takson za favno metuljev Slovenije. Carnelutti (1978) poroča o “ M. melana v višjih legah ratitovca”, vendar pozneje v svojem rdečem seznamu Makrolepidopterov Slovenije navaja samo M. lugubris (Carnelutti, 1992a). lesar in Govedič (2010) pripisujeta vse literaturne navedbe o rodu Typhonia v Sloveniji vrsti T. ciliaris , ki je bila takrat obravnavana kot en tak - son. 117 Acta entomologica slovenica, 29 (1), 2021 Sl. -

It has not been submitted before for any degree or any other examination in any other University. ______________________ ______ day of ______________________ 20_____ ii ABSTRACT Introduced plants will lose interactions with natural enemies, mutualists and competitors from their native ranges, and possibly gain interactions with new species, under new abiotic conditions in their new environment. The use of biocontrol agents is based on the premise that introduced species are liberated from their natural enemies, although in some cases introduced species may not become invasive because they acquire novel natural enemies. In this study I consider the potential for the biocontrol of Bryophyllum delagoense, a Madagascan endemic, and hypothesize as to why this plant is invasive in Australia and not in South Africa. Of the 33 species of insects collected on B. delagoense in Madagascar, three species, Osphilia tenuipes, Eurytoma bryophylli, and Rhembastus sp. showed potential as biocontrol agents in Australia. -

Revision der Degia-Gattungsgruppe sowie der Gattung Westia (Typhoniinae LEDERER, 1853) mit der Beschreibung neuer Gattungen und Arten Thomas SOBCZYK Abstract In this second contribution to the Oriental Psychidae the Degia genus-group and genus Westia is revised and defined morphologically. A total of 17 species and subspecies are assigned to the group including two new genera Cossidopsyche gen. nov. and Degiella gen. nov. Degia macrosoma sp. n., D. subfusca sp. n., D. bipunctata sp. n., D. bipunctata siberutensis ssp. n., D. sumatrensis sp. n., D. deficiens palawanensis ssp. n., D. diehli sp. n., D. adunca sp. n., Cossidopsyche perlucida gen. et sp. n., Westia nigrobasalis sp. n. and W. permagna sp. n. are described here. Westia FLETCHER, 1982 (= Porthetes WEST, 1932) is transferred from Cossidae to Psychidae, Melasina evagata MEYRICK, 1921 to Degia and Degia gonglyopis (MEYRICK, 1925) to Degiella gen. nov. Diana anak James Junau Program Biologi Sumber Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi Sumber Universiti Malaysia Sarawak P.KHIDMAT MAKLUMAT AKADEMIK UNIMAS 11111111111111111111111111111 ABSTRACT 0000112370 A total of 222 individuals of the microlepidoptera representing 92 species were collected using an illuminated vertical light sheet from secondary lowland forest at Matang Wildlife Centre, Kota Samarahan, and Sri Arnan, Sarawak. Nine families of these smaller moths were represented, with Pyralidae as the most abundant and diverse family. The three commonest species were Cnaphalocrocis patnalis Bradley, Nacoleia charesalis Walker and Picrostomastis inductalis Walker. These were represented by 12 individuals each. Tineidae and Pterophoridae represented the least diverse families with a single species and individual collected each. The faunal composition is further discussed and compared to other available studies on moths of Borneo. Key words: Faunal composition, lowland tropical forest and light traps. ABSTRAK Sebanyak 222 individu daripada 92 spesies Mikrolepidoptera disampel menggunakan perangkap cahaya aktif dan perangkap cahaya pasif kawasan hutan di Pusat Perlindungan Hidupan Liar Kota Samarahan, dan Sri Aman, Sarawak. Sembi/an famili mikrolepidoptera diwakili oleh Pyralidae sebagai famili yang paling melimpah. Tiga spesies paling biasa diperolehi dan ini ialah Cnaphalocrocis patnalis Bradley, Nacoleia charesalis Walker dan Picrostomastis inductalis Walker, masing-masing dengan 12 individu setiap satu. Tineidae dan Pterophoridae adalah famili yang paling kurang dijumpai dengan satu spesies dan individu mewakili setiap satu. Komposisi fauna selanjutnya dibincangkan dan dibanding dengan kajian lain yang telah dibuat ke atas kupu-kupu di Borneo sebelum ini. Insect Species Described from Alfred Russel Wallace's Sarawak Collections
Malayan Nature Journal 2006, 57(4), 433 - 462 Insect species described from Alfred Russel Wallace's Sarawak collections ANDREW POLASZEKl* and EARL OF CRANBROOK2 Abstract In just over a year spent in Sarawak (1854-1856) Wallace collected over 25,000 insect specimens; by his estimate, these represented over 5,000 species. About two-fifths of these were beetles, and over 200 of these were formally described in the 1850's and 60's, largely by 1.S. Baly and F.P. Pascoe. Nearly 400 species of moths from Wallace's Sarawak collections, including over 100 new genera, were described by Francis Walker. Fredrick Smith described 150 Hymenoptera from these collections, and taking into account Diptera and Hemiptera from the same collections, this brings the total number of insect species described to well in excess of 1,000. INTRODUCTION Alfred Russel Wallace has a reputation as an extremely prolific collector of plants and animals from many parts of the world, notably the Amazon Basin and the Malay Archipelago. His relatively brief period collecting in a geographically limited area of Sarawak on the island ofBomeo dramatically illustrates his abilities as a co llector and field taxonomist, able to recognise differences between species across a huge range of diverse insect orders. Wallace in Sarawak Alfred Russel Wallace arrived in Sarawak on 1st November 1854 and left on January 25th 1856 (Wallace, 1869). In a little more than a year, and in a rather limited geographical area of southwestern Sarawak (fig. 1), with the aid of Charles Allen and various local assistants, Wallace collected and shipped back to London more than 25,000 insect specimens. -

The genus Kalliesia gen. n. with the type species Kalliesia irana sp. n. is described from Iran. Within Psychidae, the new genus is placed in Typhoniinae: Typhoniini. The diagnostic characters of Typhoniini are revised at tribus and generic level. The genus Eumelasina Kozhanchikov, 1956 is trans- ferred from Penestoglossini to Typhoniini and Melapsyche Kozhanchikov, 1956 syn. n. synonymised with Typhonia Boisduval, 1834. Typhonia troughti (Amsel, 1955) comb. n. is redescribed and compared with Typhonia paulusella (Caradja, 1921). Moths and genitalia of Kalliesia irana sp. n. and Typhonia troughti (Amsel, 1955) comb. n. are illustrated. A new generic key of Typhoniini is presented based on external characters. Zusammenfassung. Die Gattung Kalliesia gen. n. mit ihrer Typusart Kalliesia irana sp. n. wird aus dem Iran beschrieben. Innerhalb der Psychidae erfolgt die Einordnung der neuen Gattung in die Typhoniinae: Typhoniini. Spannweite 47 mm. 2 Bewertung einzelner Merkmalsgruppen Früher wurden die Schmetterlinge nach relativ einfachen habituellen Merkmalen gruppiert, und so war es nicht verwunderlich, daß die beiden hier zu behandelnden Genera zu den Cossiden gestellt wurden. Sie sind rindenartig gezeichnet, beide Geschlechter sind geflügelt, und von Gehäusen wußte man nichts. Das Geäder gehört dem sehr ursprünglichen Lepidopterentypus an und kann mehreren Familien zugeordnet werden, die phylogenetisch nicht sehr nahe verwandt sind. Roepke (1957) war der erste Autor, der durch Untersuchungen der 6 Genitalmorphologie und der Annahme eines Ge- häusebaus der Raupen die beiden Gattungen den Psychidae zuschrieb. Diese Feststellung wird hier übernommen. We saw an overall total of 874 identified species in addition to a few inevitably remaining unidentified. This represents the second highest total ever for this tour. This total included 400 higher plants (the highest total ever for the tour) and 314 invertebrate species, of which 87 were butterflies and 60 moths, as well as many other attractive and impressive bugs, beetles etc. We had record numbers of beetle and Arachnid species for the tour with many other groups above average. Being so late in the season it is always difficult to find birds on this tour. As such we only managed a total of 88 species. This was nonetheless still higher than for some tours where birds are a primary focus, and we had so much more besides. Day 1 Monday 17th July Our flight was a few minutes late taking off from the UK but, as so often with this route, we nonetheless arrived a few minutes early at 1.14pm (BST +2).
