Kristianstads Vattenrike Biosphere Reserve, Periodic Review 2005-2015
This Periodic Review can also be downloaded at www.vattenriket.kristianstad.se/unesco/. Title: Kristianstads Vattenrike Biosphere Reserve. Periodic Review 2005-2015 Authors: This review is produced by the Biosphere Office, Kristianstads kommun: Carina Wettemark, Johanna Källén, Åsa Pearce, Karin Magntorn, Jonas Dahl, Hans Cronert; Karin Hernborg and Ebba Trolle. In addition a large number of people have contributed directly and indirectly. Cover photo: Patrik Olofsson/N Maps: Stadsbyggnadskontoret Kristianstads kommun PERIODIC REVIEW FOR BIOSPHERE RESERVE INTRODUCTION The UNESCO General Conference, at its 28th session, adopted Resolution 28 C/2.4 on the Statutory Framework of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves. This text defines in particular the criteria for an area to be qualified for designation as a biosphere reserve (Article 4). In addition, Article 9 foresees a periodic review every ten years The periodic review is based on a report prepared by the relevant authority, on the basis of the criteria of Article 4. The periodic review must be submitted by the national MAB Committee to the MAB Secretariat in Paris. The text of the Statutory Framework is presented in the third annex. The form which follows is provided to help States prepare their national reports in accordance with Article 9 and to update the Secretariat's information on the biosphere reserve concerned. This report should enable the International Coordinating Council (ICC) of the MAB Programme to review how each biosphere reserve is fulfilling the criteria of Article 4 of the Statutory Framework and, in particular, the three functions: conservation, development and support. It should be noted that it is requested, in the last part of the form (Criteria and Progress Made), that an indication be given of how the biosphere reserve fulfils each of these criteria. -

The conservation contributions from this holiday raised £700, namely £40 per person topped up by Gift Aid through the Honeyguide Wildlife Charitable Trust. Honeyguide is committed to supporting the protection of Lilium rhodopaeum. The Rhodope lily is a scarce endemic flower of the Western Rhodopes, found on just a handful of sites in Bulgaria and just over the border in Greece, about half of which have no protection. Money raised in 2014 was enough to fund Honeyguide leader Vlado Trifonov, who is recognised as the leading authority on the Rhodope lily, for monitoring and mowing for two years at the location visited by Honeyguiders. That includes this year (2015). That work is likely to continue for some years, but other conservation needs in the future are uncertain. -

Lepidoptera, Psychidae, Dahlica, Siederia, DNA barcoding, COI Abstract. Accurate identification of species is fundamental for biological research and necessary for species conservation. DNA bar- coding is particularly useful when identification using morphological characteristics is laborious and/or unreliable. However, bar- codes for species are dependent on the availability of reference sequences from correctly identified specimens. The traditional use of morphology to delimit the species boundaries of Finnish bagworm moths (Lepidoptera: Psychidae: Naryciinae: Dahliciini) is contro- versial because there is overlap in their morphological characteristics. In addition, there are no suitable molecular markers. We veri- fied the delimitation of seven out of eight previously described taxa, by using the currently standardized COI barcode and phylogenetic inference based on fragments of mitochondrial (COI) and nuclear genes (MDH). Moreover, we compared the results of molecular methods with the outcome of geometric morphometrics. Based on molecular identification, our findings indicate that there are five sexual species (Dahlica and Siederia spp.) and two parthenogenetic species (D. -

Recent data on Psychids are rare, that is in the major part due to the little collecting activities of the recent past. Only few species, which live in warm-dry, little affected habitats, seems to be really endangered. An unusual high number of species, 13, has been recorded from the habitat .Llrfahrwänd". © Naturkdl. Das liegt nicht daran, daß sie so selten wären. Der Grund ist vielmehr ihre versteckte Lebensweise und die Unattraktivität für Schmetterlingsammler, da die Tiere unscheinbar und außerdem schwierig zu determinieren sind. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist eine Zusammenfassung aller Daten sowie eine stich probenartige Bestandsaufnahme von Psychiden in ausgesuchten Le bensräumen. -

Contributo Alla Conoscenza Degli Psichidi Che Vivono Nel Parco Nazionale Delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona E Campigna (Insecta Lepidoptera Psychidae)
Quaderno di Studi e Notizie di Storia Naturale della Romagna Quad. Studi Nat. Abstract [On the Psychidae of the National Park of Casentine Forests, Mt. Falterona and Campigna (Insecta Lepidoptera Psychidae)] In accordance with the Authorities of the National Park “Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona e Campigna” (Tosco Romagnolo Apennines) the author carried out entomological researches on the Psychidae (bagworms) of the Park. Although the researches lasted two years only, they produced important results. The first important result was the discovery of a species new to science: Dahlica casentinensis Bertaccini, 2013.
