CORAL TRIANGLE SUPPORT PARTNERSHIP (CTSP) YEAR 3 ANNUAL REPORT REPORTING ON WORK BETWEEN APRIL 1, 2011 AND SEPTEMBER 30, 2011 SUBMITTED OCTOBER 31, 2011 This publication was produced by CTSP for USAID under GCP LWA Award # LAG-A-00-99-00048-00 Cover photo: Madang Lagoon communities recently launched a mangrove nursery at Laugum Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Madang. Supported by CTSP, the nursery was launched jointly by the Governor of Madang, Honorable James Gau (right) and WWF’s Asia-Pacific Director, Dr. Isabelle Louis (left). The occasion also marked the handing over of the nursery by WWF to the Laugum WMA committee, which is taking the lead in a mangrove replanting program in the whole of the Madang Lagoon. Seedlings from the nursery will be distributed to communities in the lagoon for transplanting in degraded mangrove areas. It is expected that the first transplanting exercise will be completed in March 2012, and the Laugum WMA committee is planning ahead for this occasion to raise awareness about climate change and climate change adaptation.
