VALE DONALD E. SCHNELL On the 16th May 2019 Donald “Don” E. Schnell MD passed away after an extended illness. He practiced pathology for 40 years and served in the US army as a Captain.

Don had varied interests throughout his life including researching, growing and photographing Carnivorous Plants, for which he wrote a couple of books on the subject and worked to release the first edition of the Carnivorous Plant Newsletter.

RECOMMENCEMENT OF THE LIBRARY The Society has a vast collection of journals from around the world along with a couple of books about carnivorous plants. Money collected at the meeting included $27.20 in gold coin donations. Venue hire ($60) for January, February and March was paid to the DCC on May 9th. Revenue from gold coin donations and plant sales now totals $662 – note that $60 from revenue is allocated to venue hire for the April, May and June meetings leaving a sub-total of $602. Robert Little noted that some of this money now needs to be deposited into the Society bank account.

BUSINESS ARISING The meeting began with a mega Sarracenia rhizome sale by John Nielsen (flava and leucophylla varieties).

Robert Little and Owen O’Neill were thanked for giving a joint presentation on behalf of the Society at the Friends of the National Arboretum AGM on May 12th. Chris Duffy was also thanked for organising the event with the Friends, and Damian Porombka for compiling a short promotional video on carnivorous plants.

Barry Bradshaw bought in some old carnivorous plant books and ICPS Newsletters (1978 – 1992 editions) for members to borrow.

John Nielsen will be presenting a talk on carnivorous plants to the Horticultural Society on July 15th.

Chris Duffy is currently liaising with the Horticultural Society to organise some dates where AUSCPS will participate in the carnivorous plant section of their shows.

Keep plants moist to wet in full sun. Keep the existing pitchers/leaves on the plants until late Winter.
