SENIOR OPERATING OFFICER’S SUMMARY An uneventful start-up save for 3 cancellations on the District line for the 06.00 snapshot owing to trains with flat batteries in Lillie Bridge Depot. There was then little to report until a PIOT on the Northern line and a signal failure which disrupted the eastbound Piccadilly line at King’s Cross St Pancras, technical staff identified a discarded umbrella trackside to be the root cause. Crowds associated with New Year’s Eve celebrations filled the viewing areas earlier than in recent years, however the network coped well with the forward traffic. The return traffic was the usual mix of low value PEA operations and requests for ambulances associated with slips and falls; however a ‘bottling’ incident at Sudbury Hill was more serious and required both Police and Ambulance and stopped the Piccadilly line for 30 minutes. All lines met their excess PWT targets with the Victoria and Waterloo and City recording 100% headway proxy. (MRT)

01.48 – DSM on site, confirmed 2 persons were injured in an assault, with a bottle used as a weapon. Both injured persons were moved to the platform. Agreement reached to allow train to move and stable at South Harrow pending SOCO attendance. 01.50 – Train on move to siding, train service resumes. Recovery 01.50 – Severe delays on the Uxbridge branch. 02.50 – Minor delays. Immediate Report of 2 customers seriously hurt after assault on board the train. BTP, MetPol and Ambulance cause & all in attendance. Upon arrival of DSM, the train was able to move to South Harrow siding. 1 resolution casualty was treated by ambulance staff, with the other person leaving of their own volition.
