Leonardo Hotels expands its presence in the capital: New Leonardo Royal Hotel in Berlin Adlershof

Berlin, 06th of August 2019: Leonardo Hotels Central Europe is expanding its Royal brand with a major project in the Adlershof district of Berlin. In addition to the Leonardo Royal Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz, a new majestic establishment will grace the capital, which is bound to impress with its location, functionality and design. “We are delighted that we were able to secure the Adlershof site for our new flagship with a long-term lease”, explains Yoram Biton, Managing Director of Leonardo Hotels Central Europe. “Berlin is one of our most important business destinations, and we are emphasizing that with the new Leonardo Royal Hotel. The hotel can be reached in only 10 minutes from the new BER airport by the S-Bahn overground train, is close to the intra-city expressway and has fast access to the city centre. That makes Adlershof ideal for both business travellers and tourists”, so Yoram Biton.

Having won an urban development concept procedure run by the Federal State of Berlin, Berlin- based project developer immobilien-experten-ag. and the investor Peakside Capital are going to develop the attractive property next to Adlershof S-Bahn station in a joint venture. It will be a new building complex with a total of almost 37,000 square meters of gross floor area and around 145 spaces in an underground carpark. “We are looking forward to our continuing partnership with Leonardo Hotels on this project,“ says Mareike Lechner, Chief Operating Officer of immobilien- experten-ag.. The conference and convention hotel will be at the core of the development, which will also include offices, gastronomy and retail areas. The architecture has been created by Berlin- based design practice GBP Architekten GmbH. “Signing the lease with Leonardo is the first vital step in developing the quarter with a 54 metre high landmark and the neighbouring OfficeLab campus”, adds Boris Schran, founding partner of Peakside Capital.

An innovative, up and coming business location The 24,000 square metres of the hotel are spread out over five floors and the 16-floor tower. A sky bar is planned for the top floor that will afford impressive views across the capital. With 380 rooms,

the hotel is going to be one of the largest in the Group. The new Leonardo Royal Hotel is particularly suitable for conference delegates. The convention and meeting facilities make up an area of approximately 3,400 square metres, at the heart of which is the 1,000 square metre ballroom and adjoining atrium. A creative open lobby and lounge/bar concept and 850 square metre restaurant on the ground floor complete the offering. There will also be a gym and sauna, plus a 100-space underground car park for hotel guests.

Berlin Adlershof is well-known as a hub for technology and science, currently attracting many startup and tech companies. “The new Leonardo Royal Hotel will fit perfectly into this area”, says Andreas Neudahm, responsible Hotel Interior Designer, setting out the design concept. “The design is similar to a campus, with a creative meeting area and coworking spaces, and exudes an understated Silicon Valley charm. Hotel life is going to be focused in the wide and generous public areas. Small sitting areas offer plenty of opportunities for people to gather in little groups in these cosy corners. The hotel’s open and unobtrusive design appeals to all age groups and affords free spirits space to roam.”

With the new Leonardo Royal Hotel, the Group is expanding its Berlin location to six establishments with a total of 1,495 rooms.
