Axis 360 eBooks & Blio: Apple iOS

Pierce County Library System provides a collection of eBooks available through Axis360: a distributor of digi- tal books to libraries. These instructions will get you started reading library books from Axis360 in the free Blio reader app.

 The Blio reader app does not currently work on Apple desktop or laptop computers (Mac OS X).

Create a Blio Account

 Go to www.blio.com.

 Tap on the “New Account” link.

 Fill out the required information and tap submit. Be sure to record your email and password for future use.

Download Blio

 From the iTunes app store, download and install the free Blio app.

 After installation is complete open up the Blio application.  Log in to the application with your new Blio account information.

Browse Axis360 Titles

 Go to www.piercecountylibrary.org.

 Tap on the orange “BOOKS/MATERIALS” tab.  Tap on “Downloadable Books and Music”.

 Under E-Books, click on “Axis360 Catalog”.

 There are several ways to find books in Axis 360. You can browse titles on the “Magic Wall”, or search for a specific title or author in the search box.

 Tap on the cover image or title of a book to view more detailed information.

 Tap on “Browse” at the bottom of the page to browse by subject.

 You can also access your account information and book lists from the menu at the bottom of the page.

 Once you have found a book you would like to checkout, select a format and hit the “Checkout Now” button.

 Titles may have any of three format options; Blio, ePub or PDF. Blio formatted files will only work in the Blio app on your Apple device. ePub and PDF ebooks allow you to use a different reader app than Blio.

 To read ePub or PDF formatted books you must have an Adobe ID account; you can set up one for free at adobe.com.

 When prompted, type in your library card number and PIN (usually the last four numbers of your phone number).  Enter your Blio account email address and password.

 A confirmation message will pop up once you have successfully checked out your eBook.

 Sometimes a title is checked out by another person and not available at this time.

 Click on “Place a Hold” to be notified when the title is available for checkout.

Reading Books

 Open the Blio app.

 If your books do not start downloading automatically, tap on the “Get Book” button. From the “Archive” list tap on the refresh icon for the title you wish to download, and return to the Blio library.

 Tap on a cover image to start reading.

App Settings

 To change settings in the Blio app, tap on the “Settings” button in the bottom right hand corner.

 In the settings menu, under “My Account”, you can turn the automatic book downloads feature on or off.

Return & Delete

 To delete a book from Blio, tap the “Edit” button.

 Tap on the “X” that now appears in the corner of the cover image.

 Confirm your choice by selecting “Delete”, and tap on the “Done” button.
