Friday Focus area Saab Car Museum and Trollhättan/ Vänersborg • The Saab Festival 2015 opens during Friday the 5th of June. • During Friday and Sunday the visitors have the opportunity to take part in several interesting seminars within the Saab Car Museum. • Please take the opportunity to shop some souvenirs from the Saab Car Museum souvenir shop. Saab Bilmuseum Åkerssjövägen 18, Trollhättan • During the festival you also have the opportunity to take part of the exhibition made by Rony Lutz. The exhibition takes place within the Trollhättan art hall next to the Saab Car Museum. 3. Friday Focus area Saab Car Museum and Trollhättan/Vänersborg • If you feel hungry, NOVA restaurant next to the Saab Car Museum are one of several restaurants within the area of Trollhättan/Vänersborg that offers affordable meals during the festival. Within the NOVA restaurant you can also find several toilets. • During Friday and Saturday, the ANA Begagnade delar will be open. Visit them to find good offers for your Saab. Some smaller amount of parts will be available, and a large area of self dismantling will be open. Saturday Schedule for the day 08.00-09.30: The gates to Kinnekulle Ring opens for those of you that would like to drive your car on the track during the day. - Please follow the directions from the racecrew. 08.00-16.00: General Saab parking for the Saab Festival visitors. - Please follow the directions from the racecrew. 09.30-10.00: Welcome speech and drivers meeting for all of you that will drive your Saab on the track during the day. 10.00-12.00: Track day part. 12.00-13.00: Lunch break with suprise. 13.00-14.00: Family driving part, with opportunity to go with a friend in his/her car. 14.00-16.00: Track day part. 3. Saturday In order for you to drive you need to • Print, read and sign the Safety document . – You find the Safety document via the homepage of the Saab Festival. saabcarmuseum.se/event/saab-festival-2015 – You will hand this Safety document over to racecrew at the gate to Kinnekulle Ring. • You need to use a helmet during the track part of the day. There is no requirement of helmet usage for the family driving part. • Please check in advance the condition of your car. – The car must be approved for driving on the Swedish roads. – Check the brake pads, brake fluid, cooling fluid, seat belts (if present), front and rear seats. – The car battery and hat rack must be rigid fixed. – No loose items within the car during the drive on the track. – The tires must be approved for driving on the Swedish roads, meaning approved model, and with at least 1,6 mm tread. – Racecrew will check your car before you are allowed to drive. 3. Sunday Focus area Saab Car Museum The final day of the Saab Festival contains: • Car show around the Saab Car Museum. • Tribute to Erik Carlsson ”on the roof” within the Saab Car Museum. – The Saab Car Museum is open between 10.00-17.00. • The exhibition of Rony Lutz artwork within the Trollhättan art hall (Konsthallen). • NOVA restaurant, next to the Saab Car Museum, are one among several restaurants within Trollhättan/Vänersborg that offers excellent food during the Saab Festival. 3. Sunday Information for those of you that would like to measure your engine power within your car • Stemeck, with Stefan Molin in charge, will bring a power measurement unit to the final day of the Saab Festival. • Here you have the chance to measure how much power you do have in your Saab. • The requirement is that it’s a Saab 9000, or older versions of a Saab, and maximum 500 horsepower. • There will only be possible to measure a few cars during the day, so please visit Stefan Molin within the Stemeck tent if you would like to sign up for this activity, and he will tell you all the practicallities, what it cost, how to pay and so on..

    Saab 9-5NG Production report 20180905 EN v1.2 About the report Arguably one of the most beautiful Saab models ever made, the Saab 9-5 “New Generation” was introduced at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September 2009. During the two years that followed, a total of 11,320 production 9-5s rolled off the assembly lines in Trollhättan, Sweden. The interest for the 9-5NG has been growing steadily since and the cars are now rapidly becoming collector’s items. With the increasing popularity, the demand for detailed production data has also grown, but the demise of Saab Automobile AB unfortunately made access to reliable information quite difficult. This report is aiming to provide a comprehensive overview of actual production data related to the Saab 9-5NG Sedan and SportCombi models. It is compiled by Saab enthusiast and 9-5NG owner Henrik Zaar, with help from employees at Orio AB and lots of Saab 9-5 owners and fans. Special thanks go to Trond-Arve Hjelle, Philip Salonen, Patric Sonestad and Marcus Wigh, as without their help and contacts gathering all the data would have been a virtually impossible task.     SAAB FORMULA JUNIOR A unique chapter in Swedish motoring history. Compiled by Nils-Gunnar Svensson and Ulf G Andersson. Translation by Gunnar K Johansson and Ray Beaufoy. A Swedish formula Junior racing car, manufactured in one of the country’s automotive plants was something completely unique in 1960 and unprecedented in Swedish motoring history. From un-published photos, Saab documents, newspapers articles of the time and, above all, discussions with as many people as possible that were involved in this project we have strived to create an accurate account of the historical events related to Saabs two Formula Junior cars manufactured in Trollhättan. THE DEVELOPMENT WORK The development of SAAB’s Formula Junior was a direct follow up of the competition activities once initiated by Rolf Mellde (head of the test department) with the Saab 92. Without successful competition activities started by Mellde and Landbü in 1949 and resultant competition success, the development and testing of a completely new car in such a concentrated and effective manner would not have been possible. Through competition success with the Saab 92 and 93, Saab´s management began to understand that there was high PR -value to be gained by using competition successes in company advertisements and sales brochures. It was also obvious that Rolf Mellde wholeheartedly gave support in promoting the advantages of front wheel drive. During the entire 1950´s, Rolf Mellde played a major part in competition activities and, as we now know, he also achieved considerable success. 1 The development of the Sonett 1 was further step in that direction, but unfortunately, due to changes in classification and tuning requirements, there was only a short future for this type of pure racing sports car.

They really are exceptional cars that have stood the first SAAB wagon the way I’d always imagined highlighted a need for upgraded brakes at some point soon.

To view a copy of this license, visit http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/4.0/ Saabism and Saabists A digital ethnographic analysis of Saab culture Abstract: Both Simmel and Goffman were deeply persuaded that the big things in society, in actual observable reality are made up of a dynamic and complex system of interlocking and interacting small things. In this paper, I wish to examine the online-offline communicative and semiotic practices of one such “less conspicuous” social group: the Saabists. Based on long term digital ethnographic research I will provide a description and analysis of how Saabists discursively and semiotically construct identity on-and offline in a transnational niche. Saabists, I will argue, are a translocal and polycentric micro-population sharing a ‘culture’ – Saab culture or Saabism - and an ‘identity’. I clearly argue in favor of a materialistic approach to identity and group formation. The reasons therefore are evident: Identity should not only be understood in a certain chronotope, but is also embedded in ‘infrastructure’, what Arnaut, Karrebaek and Spotti (2016) call Poiesis-infrastructures. Innan årsmötet höll Bo Lindman en uppskattad föreläsning om Saabs formu- labilar. Styrelsen tar med sig det positiva bemötandet för detta i det fortsatta arbetet för att se om vi kan göra det till en tradition med en föreläsning inför mötet. Mötet avlöpte utan problem och i rekordhastighet och det valdes bland annat en ny kassör i Bo Lindman. Protokollet tillsammans med vår bokföringsbyrås snabbgenomgång av ekonomin finns på annan plats i tid- ningen för er som är intresserade.
